Or is it already? Just wondering 'cause there are a TON of French skins and it wouldnt be too hard to just copy/paste and rename some planes and add the French skins to them.IP: Logged |

Hi Argon - In a word, yes, but for the latest info on the nations project check out the official nations homepage, located in the airfield. (click the link in my sig).Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Thanks! When Nations 2 releases, I was thinking about taking the aircraft that have French paint schemes and renaming them to be just for France while still having the origonal ones. Kinda like whats being done for the Aussies. If this is already in the works, please tell me.[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 08-27-2000).] IP: Logged |

DEFINITELY YES it's gonna be in the next release. The files have been sleeping on my hard disk for faaaaaaaar to long.duplicating the planes in an interesting idea (as, after 1943, the french mainly used Spitfires, P-39's, P-40's and P-47's) but I'm afraid the download is going to be huge. Yea, the French plane duplicates will be a large download addition to Nations 2. Maybe I can release those in a seperate pack? Or each one individually as it becomes available. At any rate, I have to wait till its released before I can start duplicating the planes to use the French schemes.Question: I saw a French Navy skin for the Lancaster. Did the French really use the Lancaster in their navy? IP: Logged |

The lancaster were used by the "Marine Nationale" postwar for coastal command duty. There is a static restoration project underway in Le Bourget. http://www.chez.com/eternalflight/lancaster.html I visited the restoration team last year, they were really friendly and let me board the monster! Notice the double command, never found in bomber command lancs. IP: Logged |

This planes discussion came up during the development of Nations 1 because the Zero wasn't (and still isn't by default) listed as a Japanese plane, so there were some who suggested (and even expected) it to be included in the nationsv1 download. After a great deal of discussion, the devteam concluded it would be unwise to do that. The logic still applies, and in fact is even stronger. Unfortunately because of the limited number of parfiles, nations will still be limited to one number, so that means v2 download will be a download of the first three plus Australia and France. I've been working on this problem (as has the devteam) for ages, and the only way to fix it is to allow for more parfile numbers, so to my fellow modem users, we'll have to suck it up and suffer this one together. Be relieved, however, that nations v2 will not be released until it is 100% bug free, the same as v1. (The so-called nations fix at simfiles is a fix for a particular site that diced nations into separate downloads but lost some key files in the process)Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! Werner, so when Nations 2 is released, I should have all the copied French planes in a whole seperate pack? (most likely one plane at a time in a zip) Is this what you are saying? If so, no problem cause I dont have a copy of Nations 2 to start converting planes and I would be unable to put anything out right when Nations 2 is released. This would be easier for me. I just want the French to have a fighting chance (as we have no REAL French aircraft as of now)... plus they did use American and British aircraft with their paint schemes and I want these awesome French paint schemes that yall scheme makers have done to be used! Pachy, thanks for the info! I will include this one as well for the French.IP: Logged |

That's correct Argon. Actually, it wouldn't be too hard to determine what the ppf file designation for the french aircraft would be, but of course if you release those before nations it wouldn't work anyhow so...It's all about the file sizes: nations is a big sucker on it's own, so that's why we're doing this, this way.
