Well, Snickers and the crew working on the P-38 and variants will be getting this soon. I still have a few parts to line up and finish cutting up the tail. I designed the new model so it will only take me a few mins to crank out variants. The great thing is, with all the modifications, i still came in under my projected poly count and i'm only about 90 polys over the orignal parts. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" That looks just the job.....would look really good flying patrols out of midway island.......Love the intakes, missed them the first time I looked....detail and only 90 polys over stock.....bloody brilliant! Version wise, can you knock up a P38L....I think that's the designation....the one with 12 .50 calibres, 8 in the nose and four in the wings. My favourite plane. I hacked the old P38 as my first ever SDOE project. It throws so much lead even crap shots like me stand a chance!!!! p.s. when do you plan on having her ready to post?

thanks guys.. Bjorn, it's just over the factory model, so no FP hits. Wake, i'm not sure. It's up to snickers and the other guys working ont he P-38. They are redoing the DM and FM stuff. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

As always, excellent work!!!!Variants: P-38L and P-38 Droop Snoot (unofficial designation). Never saw data on one with 8 guns. If you can email me a source, be happy to include it as a loadout. Original Model L had 14 rockets not 10, thats what the loadout will be. (They changed to 10 because the retrofit was easier...) Droop Snoot will have some interesting loadouts (hopefully gunpods) turn this beastie into something to kill driveable tanks ... Will combine the pathfinder loadout onto the "DS" also... Any other suggestions now is the time... As far as when? Heck I don't even have it yet! It won't be long. I wont make you wait while we do FM and DM work.... I want some skins! Will send out as P38J with current FM, DM and loadouts... Need to model the Dive Brakes for the L and other stuff for the "DS" so those will be later... ------------------ Snickers =FC= [This message has been edited by Snickers (edited 08-27-2000).] IP: Logged |

Here's another shot with a little more done on my scheme.. If snickers sent me a P-38 with new FM and DM stuff it would only take me about 20 mins to copy over the new parts. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Ahem!, Cough choke...... Just use the standard one Tony.... I didnt want to make too many changes because of your new version coming out......(Sorry ) From the P38L Pilot operating manual regarding bailing out: "Alternate Method: If it is still possible to control the airplane, turn the airplane upside down, unhook the safety belt and fall out. Umm, ok. i'll go ahead and release it tomorrow after i fix a small lighting problem and touch up the mapping. The mapping is still 100% factory (other then the new tif for the superchargers) so all old schemes will still work. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" Wow! Thanks to all of you that are working on the lightning. This plane is one of the main reasons why I purchased SDOE. I can't wait for the FM and DM upgrades also. Can we get the tail section stregthenged a little? Great work and many thanks to all involved... weaselIP: Logged |

OK, Ill spill a few beans.... The P38 as you know it has the VStab and the Hstab on each side as one piece. Result? You never see a P38 with the VStab missing but not the HStab (and the other way around....). This is part of what Razer was referring to in the original post when he said he was cutting up the tail. This is also where some of the increase in poly count came from, because there are now more parts. OK all the bean spilling I am doing for now... ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Too bad we can't add compression problems to the elevators (obSpring?) so you could *tell* the difference between a non-dive brake equipped and dive brake equipped 38 .IP: Logged |
