Oh yes, the last barrier to operation Midway has fallen!!!I'm just a little bit happy about this.. It turned out to be easy.....once I'd done it... The airfield plug model and airfield itself needs to be modelled, but that really isn't hard to do. I need to use a blank sea tile as the plug, and make the Island shape part of the airfield, and with luck, sea will stay sea, and land will be land!!!!!! with a functional AI recognised airfield IP: Logged |

The hard bits were already done! This is just the icing on the cake.I needed a break from the B24 project anyway, and this is a worthy cause.

Just a question from an ignoramus in the peanut gallery... Does this mean that on a particular map (ie: Singapore & future ones) you can place working airfields anywhere, and not just in the same relative locations as the three default maps? If so, my congratulations you guys, this is a huge step forward!Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

The world is your oyster, or so it would seem!Heres what I found out..... When you break down the SM with OL, there is a set of co-ordinates which define where the airfields origin is in relation to the map. Change this, and change the identical set of co-ordinates in the matrix attached to the group, and there you have it. The problem i have now is adapting the airfield model, putting it in exactly the right place on the map, and having the 'plug' that goes with it align properly. At the moment I have some holes in the universe. The Airfield is almost where I want it, but I need to do some fine tweaking to put it right where Nat put the islands. Then I must make it exactly fill the gap. The breakthrough was finding where the numbers were! IP: Logged |

A big time request before you get too far... (great work BTW...) would it be possible to have a ramp / runway extend right to the waters edge somewhere? The PBY now has floats!!! (No dofs for them yet..). I can land on water and as long as I dont let the speed drop below about 60, I can pull back out. It would be interesting to make a hot run at the runway from the water...(can the ramp tile actully extend under the water without causing the world to end? If you or NAT email me I'll tell you what I have in mind...Again keep up the good work, its inspiring. ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

WUTG, Thank you for the extra effort!!! There is no reason that you cant move the whole attol around to "fit" your airfield. I just put the attol there to facilitate the location of battle that took place....up to the northwest of it. Snickers, In the center of the attol there is a darker channel that was used for the PBY landings. Check it out just south of the airfield...the dock is there all it needs is that ramp you asked for.IP: Logged |
