As some of you know, the creator of SDOEWar (and the guy doing most of the work
) has recently had to step down because of lack of time. PR has a new job in a new location, so the poor guy is timeless (hehe). Anyway, the SDOEWar Dept is looking for some help. If we can find two or three people willing to donate some time on the logistical end of this thing, we can get the war back on track and continue. The tasks performed by the WD are as follows:
*Observing missions- the mission observer keeps a written list of the pilots in the mission. He attempts to verify as many kills as possible, such as who was shot down, who bailed out, did they bail out over friendly territory. Also, he would attempt to verify air to ground kills. This is not as easy as the software is inconsistent. It is the job of the observer to be the mediator in the event of disputes. The observer represents the War Dept. in that mission and his decisions are final, although with large disputes we have traditionally come out of the mission at the end and held a meeting with the commanders and as many =WD= members as we could find.
*Creating the War missions- The criteria for the missions must be collected from the commanders during the week prior to the scheduled sorties. Then, missions must be created based on these criteria and tested. This is more time consuming than it sounds
*Statistics- We must have some way to keep track of purchasing of assets. The web site will automate this as soon as I can get a couple of days to bang out the code, but in the meanwhile, we need to track War Dollars Spent, Assets purchase, Assets Destroyed, Pilot Deaths. Also, as the war progresses, changes in territorial occupation on the map must be tracked (who occupies what airfields etc...).
*General decision making and participation in =WD= brainstorming- The war is sort of in beta right now. There are several possibilities as to which way it can go. We will need to "sit down" and pound out a direction to take this thing without it's founder (PR) and his great ideas. Also, we'll need brainstorming on logistical problems as they arise (and they will arise).
*Web site administration- Right now, I'm doing all of this, so we don't really need help in this dept. although that could change in the near future as things progress.
I think if we can get two or three more people involved, and they are serious about it, then we can continue as before. Eyes=FC= has volunteered, so there are three of us now.
If anyone has input, ideas, comments, suggestions, or wants to donate some time, please let me know (jack@esox.net), or post here.
Thanks!
