Hello,

Thanks fot the response's. When I installed
SDOE for the third time I used patch 1.5, then I added plane pak 5.3 then plane pak
5.3b patch.....Then I installed the
"Nations" patch. I was pretty through in my
planned approach not to hose up Sdoe for a
third Time!

This is why I'm stumped, I checked the zip
files, read the readme text files, AND some
of the add ons still don't work! Go figure!

I made the assumption (Never Assume!) that
winzip would unzip the files to the proper dir's.
I guess in some case's this did not happened!

Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thank you for your attention.

Hmm.... check these things. Make sure the 'Use Folder Names' option is enabled in Winzip. I for one know that the Pe-2 unzips in the correct spot so there should be no problem there. Also make sure the startup.ppf file is installed correctly and make sure (double check) that the Nations installed correctly. (is Russia or Italy an option in the planes country menu?)

Success!

I double checked the startup.ppf for the
Pe-2, and I was'nt sure if I had saved it
before, so I opened it, noticed that several
lines of text were misaligned, changed this
saved, crossed my fingers........AND it
worked!!!!

So flushed with success I installed the I16
version 24.......and this one worked TOO!!

Then I hit a few more bumps, the He162 I
installed,I could fly in a mission that I
created, but I could not see it in the game.

That is to say the "cutaway bitmap did'nt
show in the game. just the description of
the He162.

Just a few words about the He162, in flight the nose kept on dropping, is there any way
to trim aircraft in this game?

When I banked the He162 it banked (turned)
VERY sharply, I read Capt Eric Browns
flight report on a captured He162 that was
tested in Britain after WW2, and for sure
in "REAL" life, such a turn would have caused the ac to breakup!

Also, I scored some kills on Me109e4's while
"flying" the I16r24. The I16 is a real touchy
little beast! It desperately wants to drop the left wing then spin into the ground!

Are the flight models for these two ac supposed to be accurate, or "realistic?"

Now IF only I could logon to FSHANGAR so I
could D/L more new ac! I find this game to
be a challenge, and when you beat the
challenge....Great!

Hi Adolf, glad your prob worked out... Two things, not really for your benefit so much as anybody who happens across this thread really, but:

1. Nations is not a patch, it is a "mod" or "add-on" similar to a plane pack in that it expands the game, rather than fixing the game. Sure, it's semantics, but those of us who worked hard on it (and still do) would appreciate that this distinction be made.

2. For some odd reason Plane Packs and Nations release(s) seem to attract a surprising amount of negative publicity in threads on the forum after their release, mostly from people who have difficulty installing them. In the case of nations, it seems a lot of people figured they'd install it and *poof* you get the fruits of Laika's and others' labour installed too. Sorry, but no. If you read the fine print you'll know what nations is all about, but FOR THE RECORD - I as nations project coordinator will personally assist you get nations working on your machine, or refer you to a team member better positioned to sort out the difficulty you are having. I'd much rather that then a bunch of frustrated posts with headers that could scare people off from d/l-ing nations, especially considering our team has a policy of no-betas, no-bugs, one release. (Oh yes, and if anybody wishes to inquire about the so-called 'nations fix' at simfiles, I'll fill you in. I don't want to bring it up here because it'll ruffle feathers. Water under the bridge.) Oh yes, my email - like I said, nations does do tech support: keepinga@cadvision.com

Sorry, don't mean to rant or preach, but these things needed to be said.

S!

Werner
