I just dropped by, curious to know whether or not the release of the source code has led to a DM fix (as it was intended to do, amongst other things)? Or does it still take a tactical nuke to bring down an enemy a/c online? Just curious. IP: Logged |

Hi Siggy !Try the WW I planes in SDOE ... The DM with those airplanes is pretty good actually, even online Some are too "hard" but they are working on it. Tomorrow, sunday 20-08 we have a new WW I party in California Server. We start at 9 pm GMT, 10 pm CET Join us ! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Boy that only one bomber in the whole game. When is that bug fix coming out again?
LOL Siggi, Some people have the source but they can't distribute any fixes right now, nor talk about it yet cause Parsoft/Inertia are still waiting for openplane to change hands fully before opening it right up. IP: Logged |

Inertia has always owned OpenPlane and the SDOE flight engine. Activision just owned the name, interface and networking code. I'd expect Inertia to give away the source to thier OpenPlane engine around when Microsoft gives away the source to Win2K and Office.I believe the semi-open source people will only be identifying bugs and fixes for Inertia so that they can include the fixes in future versions of the engine. SPanky here.. No you miss understand me Lothar. I'm not saying that Inertia/parsoft are trying to buy openplane from activision. Inertia is trying to buy openplane from parsoft from what I understand. THe whole parsoft/inertia thing wasn't as cut and dry as it sounds. I don't think it was a simple name change, I think they are 2 seperate companys and for the property rights to change from parsoft to inertia it has to be sold or somthing. Mh should be able to fill us in. MH was with the whole parsoft/inertia thing? Are they 2 seperate companys? OR Was it a simple name change. What is holding back the source code? WHen I first read about inertia I thought it was a name change but it sounds more complicated when you read some stuff from MH. He says that openplane is owned by parsoft and they don't want to figure out everything for the SOS just to have to redo it again once inertia owns OR licences openplane. IP: Logged |

You are right Spanky, I forgot about the Parsoft/Inertia thing. Until Inertia got the rights from Parsoft, they couldn't even give out the code under an NDA. What ever happened to Eric Parker anyway? Does anyone know what he is doing for a living now?IP: Logged |

Hi Whirly. No, we're starting to get as sick of the B17-2 release bug as we were of the SDoE damage bug. Sims, who'd have 'em, eh? IP: Logged |

Why don't we give a big sh*t in Activision, let them do whatever they want with their puny lawyers, then it'll be them vs. us. Almost seven hundred against a few! Just a funny thought......... IP: Logged |

Spanky here... semmern - I think your confused man. THey have nothing to do with releasing the source. all they own is the art, net code, name, and I think everything produced with the game like 3d stuff, and textures. Parsoft owns the openplane engine which is the meat of the game. Inertia is **I THINK** licencing the openplane engine. And now trying to buy it. So we have no worrys with activision.
