I was thinking, would it be possible to make a dmg property for my engine, so that when it reaches a certain point, the gear on that side stop working?? WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL!?!?!? Coming home from the struggle that is BoB, limping home one one engine, then you realize that your engine is so badly damaged that you'll have to make a one geared landing. Will you survive?? So, is it possible??------------------ "Don't move, if we scatter, he'll pick us off! Stand Together!"~~Aladar IP: Logged |

You bet your ass it is....I've been playing with just such a concept. On the B17 I've been working on, the damage to the inner engines, when it reaches a certain level, triggers a model replacement. Well, if you do the same with the gear, and sub in a model without the DOF.... Not got it 100% but i see no reason why this shouldn't work. IP: Logged |

The P-51D Beta 2 is set up so that when the inner wing is damaged there is a obProb that the gear will not lower, or your guns will jam. This is done by an obDetach at certain damage levels. If you lower the gear at too high a speed the gear is replaced with a pair that is all bent up. The gear will not retract back all the way so you are stuck, and it will collapse on landing (Still working on this part - right now it has no obBodyPts.)

Can sounds be applyed to this? When a object is replaced due to it's damage levels being reached, could you hear a "clunk" as your damaged landing gear falls off or a "grinding" noise as the gear fails to open? or even a "sputtering" motor on the last part of the damage levels (before the new obDetach are being met.) so you can lower the RPMs, feather the prop, and maybe baby it back before it goes out?IP: Logged |

You shoot the Corsair up bad enough, and the gear will be shot away as well.I'll try to build this into the Aussie Spit (hopefully the more advanced system used in the Mustang beta) as well... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Hey, jedi, I used your Corsair as the base for the P-51D damage model. You did a great job on that thing.------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site
