Hi there, I just got a new system (750) and re-installed SDOE. I've been wanting to try some of the open plane models, because I've heard good things about them. Here's my question, what files are used online? is there a standard group of patches that I should get to be compatable online? Thanks in advance... Udie IP: Logged |

The online stanard is quite old, if you play offline at all it may be worth setting up two installs of SDOE to use the newer stuff offline. TS

Evenings north american time on the california 12 server. If you click below and go to downloads/ SDOE I have a little ICQ-like beeper utility that will beep you when people are online and show you how many people are on each server. TS ------------------ Patch It! TS Aircombat

If you have the drive space, set up 2 installs. Keep one "pristine" with just the online stuff: patch 1.5, plane pack 5.3, contest pack 1.1, and, I think, Nations 1.0 is also online standard now, and the WW I pack. Then do a second install with all that PLUS all the new cool planes like the P-39 and Pe-2, F-86, Tiger and Sherman, etc, etc. There's probably 20 vehicles/planes not yet "standard" for online that are nontheless pretty durn cool. Best to keep those separate from your online setup tho--hard to tell nowadays just what will give you an online mismatch. Keep a sense of humor too

Instead of having 2 SDOE installs why not just have 2 aircraft directories (Online_Aircraft and Offline_Aircraft). Rename one to 'Aircraft' as and when you need to. It works for me and saves about 450meg of space. 'Bout time for a new planepack methinks ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |
