S! ALL! I recently obtained a copy of SDOE, and thought that I would give my opinion on some of the pro's and con's of SDOE. First of all I have for the last year or so spent the bulk of my free time "flying" Jane's WW2 fighters, so I might have a slight prejudice in favor of WW2 fhtrs. One thing that I really like about SDOE is the ability to import in new aircraft. I had a rush flying a FW190d9 chasing after a P47 at tree top level! Nice! However, some of the aircraft that I tried to install in the game , do not show in the game? I tried to install the Mistel 3. and it is not in the game! Any ideas, anyone? I think that the damage graphics in the game could be improved, especially the depiction of a aircraft that is on fire, also where are the damage decals that represent bullet/cannon holes? I use a Voodoo 3 pci card, and I've noticed some visual artifacts while using the glide mode. These effects, ie, the terrain turns black?, also happen in WW2 fighters. I have noticed that some of the flight models in SDOE seem to REALLY be "twitchy", for example all of the FW190's in the game "bounce" up and down a lot in the game. This bounce makes it difficult to shoot down a P51 or P47! On the other hand when I "test Flighted" the Me109 e4, the aircraft was very sedate, and exhibited very little bounce or snaking like some of the other ac in the game? Any suggestions? I would like to ask if anyone has a manual or a keyboard reference? I purchased SDOE as part of a bundled software package, w/o a manual. Last of all I feel that I should mention that during the last 3 weeks or so, I have made a number of attempts to access various SDOE websites(in particular FSHANGAR!) and all I get is "Page cannot be Displayed!? I find this to be annoying, as it cutails my ability to obtain some of the more recent releases for SDOE! I look forward to being involved with SDOE and I'm hopefull that Parsoft will listen to BB's like this and release a upgrade to SDOE. To you people that have created new ac for SDOE. Good Job! Keep up the Good Work! S!....And check your 6! (Thanks To "jerry" for your suggestion to post here)

S! and Welcome! What exact problems are you having with the Mistel 3? You have to set up the directories yourself and make sure that they are named right. If this is all correct it should show up in the game. Also, you have to have the Bf-109 and the Fw-190s pack (or the most rescent planes pack) installed. Some of the flight models are "twitchy" and some are not complete as of yet. The Fw-190 FMs are mostly done as good as they are going to get. I have not gotten any visual artifacts with glide.... I have a V3 3000 AGP. The fshangar and other such websites work fine for me. Check your browser settings. IP: Logged |

yes, the twitchyness of some aircraft is purely due to the ongoing attempt at getting flight modulation as exact as possible, I hope you'll bear with the guys as they work on these things.Alot of sites have been undergoing major updates recently, but you'll find others such as mine that are still fully working, theres a link below the sig. pic at the bottom. As for your Voodoo problems, I'm not sure, I'm running the V3 2000 pci but I always use D3D as the graphics are so much better, but the Frame Rate is the same, although the problem you have sounds to me like you're running out of texture RAM, maybe try turning down the texture detail a little and see if that helps. As for the cursed Parsoft, they suck! They aint interested in us, SDOE or what we do here, Micheal Harrison of Inertia is trying to help out, and he has, but his hands are a little tied due to legal reasons. Anyway, welcome to our SDOE community, I know you'll like it here and even if you never go into building stuff, you're a welcome member of the community now ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Hey Nat, before you get flamed into next week.... Parsoft and Inertia are the same. They changed names. :} Activision is the enemy. Michael Harrison is one of the developers of the game and has been working on a patch... let play nice about that everyone... ;} Yes the FM's are always a work in progress and we are working on it... don't forget to trim though, that will help with the plane being bouncy. Check some of the other topics on the FSIC here becuase I think someone did post a reference guide for the key commands. You can also edit the Keyboard.inp file in the root dir of FS:SDOE. It has all the input commands and whatever you can also edit that file if you wish. Mirthain=FC=IP: Logged |

er... ooopppss... thanks Mirth, I'll not change the post cause it's a genuine mistake and I wont hide mistakes, but thanks for pointing it out to me, as I said above MH does try and I know that even though he gets flamed sometimes, we all appreciate him stickin with it as best he can Yeah, I wouldn't piss on Activision if they were on fire IP: Logged |

Hi Adolf !I am using the V32000 PCI as well and after patching SDOE to beta 5 I am quite pleased with the Glide performance at 1024x768. In my opinion the graphics look nicer in Glide than in D3D. Especially smoke effects. Here is the link to Michaels beta patch site: http://dragonseye.com/FSBeta/download.html (read Michaels instructions carefully!) Also be sure to have the latest pack of FMs installed. It is a WW2 sim, but if you want some pure flying fun, and feeling of speed, be sure to test Pete's F14, F15 and Harrier ! Planecentral holds a very complete overview of available SDOE add-ons (its up, just checked it): http://planecentral.tripod.com/ Have fun ! Bjorn IP: Logged |

G'day Adolf,My site is alive too ... updates are not as often as I'd like, but I have other 'real life' responsibilities that chew up a fair bit of time..... Drop by for a visit some time ... the link is below. And look out for the 'Nations - Australia & France' release due at the end of the month So far the Aussies will have the CA-27 Sabre (Zurawski) and the Spifire Vc (Jedi) released about he same time as the nations (Please guys ). In the not too distant future we will have the CA-12 Boomerang (Hippie)... can't wait for that one... potential aircraft are the CA-18 Mustang Mk 21/22/23 and Spitfire F/LF/HF VIII ... but we will see what happens with these ..... Cheers & welcome, ------------------ AGAS 5 Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation IP: Logged |

Adolf-If you will send me an email so I can get your address, I'll be happy to send you a copy of the OPP's Keyboard Command standard. It contains a revised keyboard.inp file and a command card current through revision 1.5 plus many user created commands. Regards, and welcome to SDOE! Ronin IP: Logged | |
