Using my idea for fake lights has given birth to another thing. From a distance you can make cockpit flash (or glare if you wish) that looks pretty good! The question is getting the timing of it down.

Some things to keep in mind. Keep the lod hidden until how far away you want (just the switchin distance takes care of this). Have it appear via an automatic DOF (starts when sim is started) by having the command for it in the root of the model (thanks to MH for this info, it starts things like the Harrier's fan turning the second you enter a mission, without user input). You could have a single sided circle or whatever shape (diamond) that has NO mapping and is pure white. The Dof spins it slowly so say every 20 seconds you'd see a flash, but only far away, and it's a looping DOF so it repeats.

I'll put one on the Harrier and post my thoughts on it.

I love this idea. It sounds like the feature that is in Mig Alley, and also Nations Fighter Command. The twinkeling glint off the canopy.

If this can be incorporated into SDOE, I would be so happy.
