I did have a rotating (DOF'd) green radar looking disc for the radar scope, but for some reason it was way too dim (it had an Alpha texture) so I ended up deleting it. I may do something with that scope, or not. We'll see.IP: Logged |

Hopefully a really nice beta will be done within the next couple weeks. Final, who knows. Personally I don't think a plane is ever really done. Even the finished ones could always be improved.I just experimented with fake lights. I made up some spritey looking polys to look like a flash bulb going off, made them white as all heck, and put them on DOFs on the fuselage and tail. The spin at realistic intervals that when at a little ways away look like flashing lights! Pretty neat looking, only up close it's dorky city. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get lighting (and the flashes) to look as good as it can in what we currently have to work with, not having light sources and all. I'm trying to avoid Alpha textures too, since they suck up fps. In that same URL above I just posted a pic of the fake lights. Btw, what's the code for bright red, and bright (lime) green? I tried to color some sprites to those colors but had trouble. Thanks. [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 08-14-2000).] IP: Logged |

Ok, I just tried full lighting and it looked BAAAADDDD! I am leaving the one on the nose landing gear though since it looks cool. Can't wait till the day we have actual lights in SDOE. (Night too) IP: Logged |

Pete, for flashing lights, can you use a translate instead of a rotate dof. I think the landing gear indicator lights on the Spit, and a few other planes do this. The textured lod is just behind the panel, then when the gear is down it moves just enough to be in front of the panel, so you can see it. (Looks very good and realistic)If you could make your light continue to move back and forth it might work. ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site

Going to do that now It's wierd, under 3DFX the canopy looks great, but Direct3D looks like heck. Gonna try and fix it though. IP: Logged |
