Just unzip to your Fighter Squadron directory.

Project:
This is the first public release of the P-39 aircobra. This version is not designated with a letter since this is still being worked out. Future releases will be designated with a letter so variants can be made and released. There is still a ton of work to do on this project so read the known problems before you flood the project leaders with email.

KNOWN PROBLEMS

Everything. It's a Beta!

============================================

I've had a few problems over the weekend with OPS killing SM files so i BS'ed a few things just to release it. These things will all be fixed when i have more time.

There is no second level LODS so once the first level LODs go out at 25,000 ft. you have nothing. I don't think you'll want to fly online with this.

A few surfaces vanish when looked at from angles. I'm still looking into this. the tail area doesn't line up and some have missing polygons. The left gear door is a mirror of the right and the inner doors are mirrored also.

It's beta, so live with it for now.

I would like to thank Kraft for the great plane he started. Without his work, this wouldn't have been made.

Like i said above, It's beta!

I'm releasing it so you guys have something to play with.

Enjoy!

It's nice airplane, but it falls short in a major catagory. The CG is out midway down the nose (remember the He-162 dilema?). The pivot point is on the nose when it should be about 1/3 back from the leading edge of the wing. I know it's a beta but this is major.

Pete,
I started tinkering with this problem. I moved forward the main fuselage LOD in AC3D, rebuild and repositioned other things in OPS.
It is in fact quite a lot of work because everyting in the cockpit as well as the CG boxes have to be moved.
But my work was based on an earlier beta so I guess it will have to be done again.
Nevertheless there was a real difference in FM terms, you have no longer this feeling of limited AOA. The plane is also more unstable.

Pachy,

I know it's just what you didn't want to hear. But even though it may be improved it just doesn't look right to see the thing pivot about it's nose like that. I realize it's a huge job to fix, but I just thought I'd point it out.

It's a very pretty plane nonetheless. The thin wheels are very cool too.

Did i forget to say this was a beta? and that no FM work has been done?

Pachy, thanks for the work, but the contact points was really really messed up on the older versions and zur fixed them for me. i had to base future versions on his SM so the plane would crash right. There was once contact point 9 ft below the fuse which cause the plane to not touch the ground.

i'm going to take the week off from OP and since i'm taking a small 4 day vacation this weekend, i'll pick it all up again fri.

Anyone wants to do anything to this plane in the mean time, go ahead.

Pete,

That's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear... as Razer's beta does not include my attempts at fixing the damn "origin problem"

Other than that, it's a fantastic plane!

Thanks for doing this plane. It's one of the nicest looking birds in the game!

I'm sure in time the FM will be as finished as the rest of the plane. Well....maybe not, this is a great looking plane!

Great job!

thanks guys, Kraft did a great job on the model. We should have guys just make the models and let the OP guru's make it fly and finish it.

Might help to make things faster.

Just though i'd let everyone know, well people that read this post. I've picked up yet another plane from someone that doesn't have time to finish it. I'm not going to say what it is, i wont have time to work on uit for a few more weeks.

It's a very sweet plane that looks damn good. I flew it quite a bit after I got it last night. Thanks Razer, Kraft, Pachy, and any others who worked on it.

It is indeed a VERY sweet plane, but I hope its not added to the list of "unfinnished betas never to get done until sometime later" I for one would like to see it complete.
