Let there be Aussies!

Just a few little things to tweak on it. Probably do the Brit clipped wing (and maybe another little surprise) as well...

It's a Spitfire, you dolt!
The Aussie ones had to have a tropical bit on it... just like the ones they flew in Africa had to have a special thingy on them.

Pls excuse me, I've been drinking
The real kicker is, I'm living at home right now, and the parents ain't too happy...

sniff, sniff (wipes away the tears of joy)sniff, sniff .....

Mr Jedi... here I was bogged down recording Combat11.wav for the sounds of 'Nations - Australia' (only 52 to go !) and I see this...

If for no other reason than this aircraft (and the CA-27 Sabre Mr Zur ) I think that 'Nations - Australia' might be finished very soon

hmmm...argh...Mr Werner...are you realy going away in a few days ? ... I might have some work for you ....

THAT is very, very cool.

Cheers,

Hey, a Spit with a Vokes filter. For those who wonder what it is, it's a filter to prevent sand and dust to get into the air and oil cooler intakes.

Current status: 3D modeling essentially complete. Opening canopy installed. Animated Aussie pilot figure (in those cute little shorts) added. Updated weight and engine HP. Loadout updated to carry "German" bombs (which look like Brit bombs) instead of Yank bombs.

Still to do: retexture weapons pylons (default Spit pylon textures are dorked up), finish skin (just a basic mod of an existing skin--it'll be up to you fanatics to do a high-quality skin), and upgrade damage modeling (to what level I haven't decided on yet--was going to look at the Spit IX DM, but the Spit IX won't open in OPS! D'oh! I'll take a look at the beta Mustang for some damage model ideas).

Since I kind of did this for the Aussie Nation release, do you guys want it included with the Aussie Nation, or released as beta when it's ready (which will be soon)?

Sounds great Jedi.

Re Release date. Werner is coordinating the Nations release so I guess it's up to him (?)

But as a guess he's going to want to keep its size down as much as possible, so releasing the Spit early should not be a problem.

Besides you're going to want someone to test the beta aren't ya

I've just started a new project,
I hope I will be able to take it further than
the F4U. Can't do much more work on AC3D plugins till Andy gets a new version out.
The ol tools seem stable now, so I may as well work on a plane.

Hippie.

I don't think the Italians used T6. There just isn't enough of the aircraft to figure out what it is. It almost looks like a training 202 if anything.

I am stuck up here in the bush, so I only see the Warbirds rarely up here. My Dad says the Boomerang sounds Fantastic when on display.

But I wonder why the restorers of these fine machines (who have the right to do anything they want, of course!) paint the camouflaged planes in highest gloss? It always looks out of place to me ...

But anyways, it is great to see a small collection of warbirds in this country, but if only there were more.

I was working all weekend, and down the road 70 miles was the Ayr Air Show(Show ) and they had a Grumman Avenger there - with machine guns in turret!! And a nice Mustang in CAC colours - sob ...

Maybe in a few years they will be back

jedi/AGAS - Sorry 'bout the silence, I've been away for a week. Release of this a/c. hmm. good one. If AGAS can promise me all the raw files by the end of the month I'll work my tail off in the six days between then and the beginning of univ. classes to get a release (bug free, of course) out, which would mean jedi doesn't have to wait too outrageously long to release. Should the plan fail to function, the decision rests in jedi's hands - release before nations: australia and risk people not re-downloading or fixing the necessary files to move it over to australia, or sit on it until AGAS and I finish (which I know from experience can be maddening). I guess we'll just have to be flexible and play it by ear. (hehe, no pressure AGAS )

Cheers all, and great work!

Werner

Welcome back Werner ....

Things are coming along great .... sort of....

Production cycle of the sounds was going good until I tested them in SDOE ..... it seems there's some sort of 'cache' for the sounds in the game. When it's exceeded the game drops the least important ones (IE the voices) until it clears (a few minutes).

Wasn't sure about this at first but then I remembered something about it in the manual on the SDOE CD AND then I looked at the size of each .wav file .... they're between 400 and 600KB each ! (X 63 files is a shite load)

Soooo, what does this mean .... well recording will start again, but this time no (well not much ) back ground radio noise over the voices. This will reduce each file size a lot. A shame too because they sounded great!.

I do not anticipate this affecting our deadline. Will start packaging the other files up and sending them (to Werner) from Wed (Tues your time).

I am having fun though

Cheers,

AGAS 5

AGAS- I'm glad you're still enjoying it. One question though - are you adding the radio click to either end of the wav? If not pls email me 'cause we have to make arrangments. No worries, it can be outsourced.

WM.

P.S. If you'd like a couple of sample wavs from previous nations (for an idea of size) again pls email.

Werner,

Yep, radio clicks are in ..... in stereo too

In fact that was going to be my little 'easter egg' for this package ..... The voices were going to be in 'stereo' ie. the voice out the left channel and the radio background hash/faint freq crossover voices on the right. They did sound realistic as they didn't have 'radio co-site filters' back then .....

But these are the reasons why the files are so large, so I'll have to review this process and see what I can/can't do in relation to the file size.

Yes a sample from the other nations project would be good.

Cheers,

AGAS 5
