Hi all!I think I've gathered enough knowledge of OpenPlane and technical stuff to start working on my first project. I'm looking for suggestions on what to start working on, though. I had some late WWII jets in mind, but I see most of them are already done, apart perhaps from Gloster Meteor. But I'm open to suggestions on any kind of plane. Let your wishes be heard! -Gecko =FC= IP: Logged |

I would suggest the Gloster Meteor or the Bell Airacomet. We badly need some Allied jets. (especially British ones)IP: Logged |

In the allied European Theatre I'd reckon you can't go past the Meteor .... It is badly needed. But, while I'm here and as you did ask ..... Australia Nations will be released around the end of the month and it badly needs aicraft. What about the CA-12 Boomerang or CA-15 Kangaroo ? I can get you all the info ya need for both (I think). Cheers and good luck. IP: Logged |

I guess I am starting to lean towards the Meteor afterall.Agas, I do not think I would be able to finish it by the end of the month, but I would be interested to see some info on the planes you mentioned, I am kind of interested in doing some of the more exotic planes. Any links where I can get preliminary data (don't flooed me with e-mails yet )? IP: Logged |

Gecko,The Metor sounds good .... go for it ! I didn't mean to imply that it (Ausy aircraft)had to be finished at the same time as Nations Australia. Sorry mate. Here's the link to the RAAF Museum ... it should wet your appetite: http://www.raafmuseum.com.au/research/index.htm Click on 'Series Two 1935 - 1960' Then click on: 'A46 CAC Boomerang', and 'A62 CAC CA 15' (Kangaroo) Plus what ever else looks interesting I have access to 3 Ways, Specs, Performance and test pilot reports. I will need a few days lead time to get them scanned though. Cheers, AGAS 5

If we want the Finn's to enter the war, we need the Brewster Buffalo. There's also a need for a large number of Italian planes. The fakes are neat, but they are just that... fakes. _ /Bjorn.IP: Logged |

RE Pete and the MIG-15I don't "think" he's working on it ... I know he has a model he brought in from FST ... I'd give'm a buzz and see what he plans on doing with it ... IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Mig or comet. Those are my votes. Or any cool german secret weapon But we have to balence it so an allied jet would be a good idea.

It wouldn't add much to combat but a C-47 would really add atmosphere.IP: Logged |

I have a really high detail C-47 model, you could rip off the gear, props and other needless things and use stuff from the game. That way only the fuse, wings, tail and crontrol surfaces are good.------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

You could always sample from the wings, fuse and such to get a few parts that you skin together, reducing the poly count, yet keeping the same shape. I was going to do that this weekend to do the lvl 2 LOD for the B-29. thank goodness I kept a running count on the file rev.IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Yep some transports are needed but I think an allied jet is needed more. I could be biased though. I would love to fly some transports though. And i would rather a ju52

You know, if you really want to "ease" into this, you might try polishing up the P-80. It's mostly done, but it can use some updating. To finish it, you'll need to learn how to texture-map the plane, do some work on the landing gear, and create some artwork for the cockpit, as well as some basic flight-model tweaking, and working with DOFs if you put an opening canopy on her. Then take what you learn on the P-80 and apply it to the Meteor, whose model you have to do from scratch. The basic model is a lot of fun to build, but it's almost the easiest part of a project. You can get bogged down fast when the "sexy" part is finished in 3 days and the drudgery part is stretching out before you... You could also do the Arado 234 jet bomber. That would be a fairly direct mutation of the 262. ------------------ --jedi-- [This message has been edited by jedi (edited 08-11-2000).] IP: Logged |

Well I have a serious fondness for the razorback version of the P-47. If an early model D model just happened to appear in the game, there might be a few more schemes like this one following ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

I have that Mig like Zur said, but now I'm doing the Harrier soon to be followed by the Komet. If someone wants to take on the Mig as a project let me know. I may be willing to part with it but they'd have to do a bangup job on it After that who knows. What I'd like to see is the Arado 234B, the C-47, the B-24 (again, I can give someone mine as a starting point). Where's the B-25? Razer, do you have one in the works? If anyone wants to take on the MiG 15 or B-24, speak now. IP: Logged |

Pete,I guess I'll take that Mig-15 then! I'd prefer to it from scratch if you don't mind, though, as 3D modelling is also something I enjoy a lot. If you have some good info on the Mig-15, I'd love to hear from you. -Gecko =FC= IP: Logged |

Now that's a good idea Gecko that way with Zur's Sabre and Nat's Singapore terrain we'll have a game that ranges from 1914 to the Korean war with evenly matched fights, all that for 50$, one and a half year ago, and a good deal of Internet use Thanks to everyone still involved (MH, Mighty, and all addicted pilots you recognized yourselves )___________ Luny=225th= [This message has been edited by Luny (edited 08-17-2000).] IP: Logged |

Hey, Razor, if you need *any* info on the B-25 (oil resivoir locations, etc.) I just got a 1972 reprint of the B-25 pilot's manual. I think it even has a fuel consumption calculation chart. I also picked one up for the B-26.IP: Logged |

Rasar, a plane I'd really want, and which i was working on myself, but which I canceled due to lack of time, is the French Dewoitine 520 never modelled before in a flight sim but which has the particularity of having been flown by both sides during WWII. I follow Gecko on this because balanced planes for all peroids is required, I think, and we just had a Sabre lately... Pete when will you build us a Su25 or a Mig29 to go along with the Tomcat ------------------ Luny=225th= [This message has been edited by Luny (edited 08-17-2000).] IP: Logged |

Gecko,Check your email, she's all yours! Thanks. Luny, now that I have a good handle on OPS and doing cockpits, a MiG-29 or SU-27 could be fairly easily done. It's way on the back burner though as I've got a list of things I have to do first. But it would be nice to see. I was thinking of upgrading the F-14, improving some things on it but I guess Nat is now so I won't. Thanks Nat! IP: Logged |
