it's not dead, pachy just doesn;t have a lot of time to work on it. He said he hopes to get some free time in a few weeks, but right now he's to tied up.

Heya guys, I'm really glad you asked. To be honest with you it has not progressed at all since several weeks.
This does not mean the project is abandoned, but I have been away 2 weeks in july and will be away again 1 week in august. On every project there is a step where all the "sexy" work is done but lots of "uninteresting" but essential tasks have to get done. Guess the Tempest reached that state lately. You know, like making 3D tail surfaces

And the MDL2DXF thing was also a big distraction from my main project. Thanks to this utility I have basic 3D models of many lesser-known planes like the D.520 and MS.406, all those are "potential" projects...

But the Tempest will get priority because it's quite close to completion. A few screenshots (nothing new, but they look quite good)...

Mon Dieu! Pachy she's gorgeous! What is this "non-sexy" work left before she's done? Maybe I might be able to help!

The cockpit and the fuselage don't fit anymore. No 3D tail surfaces. No 2nd nor 3rd level LODs. Flaps not done. Skin not done. Contact points not fixed. No DM work. FM, FM, FM and FM. That's a lot of work.

That cockit thing is quite painful to fix. I would not recommend to make a plane 3D model by individually editing the LODs of an existing plane. I though the similarities between the Typhoon and the Tempest would save a lot of time but I was wrong because the original Typhoon 3D model was way off.

Other members of the Tempest team are Lfbpro and Frederic Mailhos.

Lfbpro is the test pilot, it's really helpful to have someone who is a pilot in real life to test your plane! He's the only person here I have met in real life.
And Frederic Mailhos is the historical expert. Frederic is not known here (he says he has no time for the forum), but he gathered lots of helpful documentation, some of it, I suppose, by spending long saturday afternoons in the library of the Musee de l'air in Le Bourget.

If you manage to complete the Tempest how about reverse enginering the Typhoon? I'm glad you agree that the model was way off because it has always looked very odd to me.
