The original B-29 had a computer system in it (yeah!) that allowed any of the 5 or so gunners to take over any or all the turets if any of the other gunners didn't have a target for that turet. Anyways, the gunner's aimed throught a series of gunsites (a few even had radar assisted aiming) and the computer directed the turet or turets at the target. There isn't a chance in heck that I will get this right in SDOE. So, instead of having views out the bubbles, I am thinking about just making the turet work like any other turet in SDOE - the gunner's view is 'sitting' in it and it has a target site. If anyone can come up with a better idea, let me know. IP: Logged |

Theres a remote gun in SDOE. The chin turret of the B17 uses it.IP: Logged |

Yep, that is just a remote view point. You just set the view to where ever you want to. I know that I was originally using that method with the B-17 variant of the plane (I might go back to using it as the base model, but it would be a lot more work...). If I set it up right, it would make those bubbles on the planes juicy targets, especially if I make the bubble a child of the gunner - shoot the bubble where the gunner is poking his head out, and the gunner goes away. I was thinking of making all the gunners children of the fire director, but most crews were smart enough to pick their own targets. It is all a matter of which gunner controls which turet. The uppers are a cinch, those will be controlled by the radio guy and the fire director (probably not the right name, I usually can't remember stuff).IP: Logged | |
