I've noticed that some of us are now using the WW1 PP and the new Pe2 on a regular basis now. I'm wondering why I saw a post with the tiltle Pe2-now on-line standard. The reason for this post is that last night I had some newbies on-line and when we all went into the host's game we were instructed that we all needed the Pe2 to fly. Promtly the newbies left and when I ditched and went to the lobby they dissapeared. My concern here is that as always this sim needs new blood to continue the growth or at least keep it alive, and when we have spacific instructions for newbies on the files needed to become on-line standard to actually let them know once they have got to the lobby that they can not play due to not having an aircraft or new PP is a little stupid. I don't mind if you see players that you know and talk to all the time and agree that you will play with the WW1 PP or the Pe2 but when it comes to newbies please be sensitive and just run the on-line standard otherwise we will continue to push players away. I would suggest that the Pe2 should be included in the next PP. It should not be considered as 'standard'. The WW1 PP should be listed now as part of the on-line standard. I'm just concerned that things will start to get out of hand again and I don't want to see bloody missmatches again. The last 3-4 months have been awsome in this sim and I've noticed the players numbers increasing, I just don't want to see that number dwindle.

I think what we need is a new Planepack. There are numerous FM updates and a few new planes that would be worthy additions to the PP. I know it's a lot of work having put many hours into PP5.3, but 6 months down the line I think a new one is sorely needed. Currently I have an Offline_aircraft and Online_aircraft directory and there are so many updated .sm files in the former that a new pack must be justified. Just my 5 new pence worth ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

To my knowledge, online standard is 5.3b and contest pack 1.1. WW1 online standard is WW1 pack 1.0 - seperately. I read the post about the Pe thingy...but understood it to mean that this was now ready for online. As it is not part of the PP yet, it would be expected that not everyone would have it. Same with any Betas or changed .sm's.I know if I am hosting, unless it is specified otherwise or requested, I use only 5.3b and contest pack 1.1. If someone gets a mismatch due to not having, say , Midway or the WW1 pack, I will just change missions. As in the past, whenever one is online with something other than standard, one really should name their game as such; i.e., Pe2 required, or WW1 standard, or Beta testing. Something like that. We do need to stick to standards for the new pilots, I think that is agreed. It may be a bit more work on the veterans to make these clarifications, but it has helped in the past, plus having someone remain in the lobby to explain things is also a help. I know it has helped me, and hopefully I have been able to help others in that way. May mean missing a mission or two, but it has been gratifying to see some of those pilots come back and add to the online fun.

Huh ? I wrote this in the first line: quote: For all interested people, a new update is out, but not that much is new , but it is the "Pe2OnlineStandart .... is the "online standart" for the Pe-2.
So maybe my english is very bad, but this line means that this Version of the Pe-2 is the latest for the next time and so it is for me the Online Standart for the Plane called Pe-2. That means if anyone is interested to fly the Pe-2 online, he should get this version to be online combatible with other "Pe-2 Users". I wrote it in that way, cause I saw people online with the older version, and they could not fly, because they did not got the update. So what ? NO the Pe-2 should not be considered as 'standart cause it is not standart. I really dont understand what the problem is, you can install all planes which are not 'standart, as long you got the 'standart planes - you can still fly online without problems.

All I wanted to get accross was that last night a newbie was lost because he was told he had to have the Pe2.The Pe2 is not as yet included in the On-line standard so this should never of happened. What should of happened is the host should have said OK well lets change the mission but they did'nt. I did missunderstand your message and it was probably because of your English but I now know what you meant. IP: Logged |

Hmmm I forgot to say that online tests are very important for us, "The Plane Builders". Even Beta or Final or whaterver versions need online tests in all aspects. LK IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Yep a new online plane pack is badly needed. We could add the pe-2 and the f86 and the p39 and i'm sure theres more. Plus lots of small updates to other planes even if it takes a month we should start planing it soon. PLus we keep pushing all the cool stuff back. Like the DM adjustments. adding the extra features like opening canopys, gear that break if lowered at high speed and cause drag when ever lowered. and stuff like that. Why don't we just get some of that done and throw in some new planes (after more testing maybe) and then call it PP 6? IP: Logged |

Hell yeah Propwash! - FANFARE FANFARE FANFARE -I was online, 10 minutes ago, I joined a game, Bulldog was host, no problem. First he asked "did all got the latest Pe-2 update ?" - Hehehe what fun ! No problem. So my version got some switchin changes - however I thought a quick test for a missmatch would be good (just to know). So I asked for sending a Pe-2 mission, just to see...would take 20 seconds hehe, than it gets worst - Eyes FC : "you go or me" - what shit he ? Might be you don't give a sht about what I do, no problem, but this worse ? And you Bulldog, talking like "we should be carefull and polite to the newbies" just talking cause it sounds that good right, not doing it... Hehe, maybe the Pe-2 attracts some new ones to this sim ? Not ? I dunno ! Great comuntiy ! So - I'm out.
'night all, was fun ! LK IP: Logged |

This has gotten out of hand. No one should be careless about the way they communicate with people who have put a lot of work into building a plane and sharing it. The builders have also got to be careful to understand that online play can be very frustrating and people may do or say things they would not normal. If they are having a hard time hosting people will get short occasionly. IP: Logged |

Sorry Laika but things happened not exactly as you described above... We were 5 or 6 people ready to start a mission that Bulldog was hosting. The mission was picked, we all took sides except you... When you were asked to pick a plane and start flying you replied that you dont want to fly....you wanted to try, that were your exact words.... Then I replied to you " that either one of us had to leave"... So tell me if I was rude and accept my apology if you misuderstood my words...IP: Logged |

Nu Da ! Might be I was in a bad mood this day, might be I misunderstood something, so I think no problem Eyes =FC= .However, I often lurk around there under other names. And sometimes its not so easy if you're a newbie. Some of the "old" ones behave like kings, uber somehow. Nealg ans some others are very friendly, but some not. LK IP: Logged |

I have been playing a bit on line recently and am very much a newbie.I have always been treated well and helped on my way. If the old hands have new planes or objects they want to try and I don't have them, they quickly change missions to the OnLine Standard planes so I can join in. I really appreciate this because whenever I try to put in Non Standard planes (He 152, Ta 152?) I get CTD so Standard it is for this little Vegemite. S! MW IP: Logged |
