I was just looking at the beautiful Pe-2 in OPS, and seeing how the gears can rip off at high speed, it'd be cool to implement a similar idea to the flaps. Maybe not have them rip off but jam if fully extended. Just something to keep in mind IP: Logged |

Hmmm... how would we do this? Breaking DOF or something else?P.S. The gear ripping off is too kewl! It also affects the flight model when you drop them down. Great job Laika! IP: Logged |

It'd be fairly easy, once the DOF's spring snaps instead of detaching the flaps, just disable them.IP: Logged |

Pete,It's easy, really easy, to make the flaps rip off. I did that something like a year ago. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's very very difficult to make that have any effect at all on the flying. SDOE will still think the flap is there, the only thing you lose is the visualization of the flap. Bummer A long lone time ago, MH made the comment that he had an internal build that allowed the runtime alteration of air* properties, which is necessary for this to have any effect on the flying characteristics. Unfortunately it has never made it to the public betas. Making a flap or a gear jam, is something I've been trying to do for as long, but have never managed to figure it out. As far as I see it, you need to swap the existing DOFs for another set of DOFs, and this does not seem to be possible with OpenPlane as it looks today. _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged | |
