OMG Laika! You released it! Getting now! Thanks you sooo much for this beautiful creation!

P.S. I vote we all use the Pe-2 as a twin engine standard for DM and FM.

I'll look over the model tonight and let you know whether I am planning on using it for my current project (2 months before I am close to start looking for a skinner). I wouldn't mod your plane any other way

BTW, daaannnnggg!! Nice plane! The slobbering period is over!

SDOE is dead. NOT! In fact I think its going to have a much longer life than people imagined. Especially when works of art like this are the result. Thank you Laika, thank you everyone that helped.....

This is a fine fine piece of work Laika! I love it, really.

It's a great example of how LOD switch-in distances should be set. I've noticed on some of the planes that are coming out this can detract from the overall enjoyment, but with yours it's perfect! Great work!

Great Job Laika! I wonder if I could pay Oleg to delay release of IL2 long enough for you to build us the entire Soviet Air Force! hehe, oh well. One question though, when the bay doors are opened, what is the purpose of those small bays on the end of the engine nacelles? More bombs? Air brakes? Also, does ctrl-J eject all three crew? I could only ever get one guy to jump.

Thanks! So what's next? Il2 Sturmovik?

Werner

Werner... I know Im not Laika but I'll respond anyways those small bays behind the gear nacelles are bomb bays. They hold one bomb each. Laika said on a previous post that you have to be missing major parts of the aircraft for all three crew members to jump out at once. But if you go to each individual position, you can jump from there.

P.S. Awesome work Laika and crew. Im up still flying the Pe-2!

Small Crew Update in the DL section

I say it again as long as you man a crew position, the AI-controlled crews will NOT jump, even when only the chair you sit on is left ! You had to jump out first, then AI will do.

Ok, why do I ctd when I try to use the Pe-2?
Tried making a mission with it and no dice. And none of the training missions work either.
And yes I added the lines the startup.ppf
What am I doing wrong?

Do you have the plane pack installed? Or at least all the planes that are in the plane pack? Make sure the lines in the startup.ppf file are exactly as the readme says.

doh,

helps to save the startup.ppf file before you fly.

Now that it works I discovered a ctd problem when I eject the pilot and then try to switch to another crew position.

Make sure all your pilot and crew member sm files are in the directory Pe2. Other than that I dont have a clue what could be causing the CTD. Do you have the v1.5 official patch installed?

P.S. Laika, did you mean me? or really Aladar?

I think that you need Nations installed for the Pe2 to work correctly. I tried the first version online without Nations and got CTD very quickly. With Nations installed it has been much more stable.

Notes:-

- Occasional CTD during large Pe2 explosion.
- The pilot trims the hell out of the aircraft if you switch back from a gunners position (use Left-ALT and Up, Left and Right arrows to reset trim)
- Props vanish often (both together) although the aircraft is still flying okay.

This is a great aircraft that everyone should download - congrats Laika

Yes you have to have Nations and the Plane Pack for the Pe-2 to work correctly.

Hmmm... I have not noticed any of these problems......... What type of graphics card do you have and what are you running it in? (software, glide or D3d?)

If you don't have Nations just edit the mission and change the squadrons.

There is another small bug, the closest LOD of the pilot's seat flickers when it switches in.

The prop-loss only happens online. I hadn't until now flown it for very long offline, where it seems to be fine. I think it is net thing that happens with other aircraft also. It is an Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 GTS 32Mb running D3D

Gunner,
I've got the ctd too. But, I guess I've missed something here cause I can't figure out how to edit the startup.ppf file. Help. I just installed the zip per instructions and hoped that it would work without having to edit the startup file. But, alas, it doesn't. How do you edit the startup file??

Just open up the startup.ppf file in wordpad and add the lines it says to in the Pe2 readme file.

Crossbow, I get that too. Hope its fixed soon.

The prop-problem is a net problem. Yes the Ai trims like crazy, dunno why, I dont care as long he flys the plane good enough...
