Good in the sense that I made it back on an engine, a missing hstab on the right side, and a dead pilot. I made up a mission that I have been using as a test mission and as an unwinding mission involving 6 B-17 escorted by 2 or 3 P-38's to bomb the tank factory north of Ly Damn, Dover (since Ly Damn never makes it to 50% damage). The interceptors sent up are a cake walk (the first flight is anyways..) it is the flak that is the killer. All the way in and all the way out, a flak battery near every key target (ok, probably not the most realistic). The target has 2 flak panzers sitting inside the tank plant parimeter. Way cool effect of the day is seeing about 1/4 mile strip of flak being flung at the bombers. I sure wish we could set it up so that the flak is set to explode in the bomber formaion's general area, that way we could actually use more than one flak gun.At the target (about 8 miles in from the beginning of the run) I met up with 4 190's who had slim pickings by that time as only 3 bombers were still in order enough to greet them, the rest being broken up from flak. The turned a straggler into a flying hulk and proceeded to come say hi to me, but the tail gunner and top turet gunner would not have it, and promptly diced the 190's into smoking cabbage.
I found something interesting during the mission as well. The copilot is a doofus. He was dropping altitude like Elizibeth Taylor drops husbands so I ended up hooping out of my chin gun position to pilot and land the crippled bomber.
I think I might have broken the brakes as I was tweaking the bomber since while landing, I held down the B key and not much happened. I was landing at the Eastbourne Airbase (second best bomber lz after Woolwich) and there is a stream at the end of the dirt runway I used since it was the closest and altitude prohubited me from trying any other.
As I must admit, a good mission is one you can walk away from. That new DM makes it a reality. I am going to have to use LK's information to make the engines burn slower.
