bighog, these skilled modelers use programs such as AC3d and MAX to build the models. Then they get them into the game by using a program called OPS and its various tools. Could someone post links to these things?

AC3D:
http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/computing/users/andy/ac3d.html

Its not as hardcore as 3DSMax, but at $40 its much cheaper. For the purposes of SDOE its superb. Only a few features I would like to have are missing, namely solid subtraction. Otherwise it is superb. When 3DSMax releases their free version, Ill of course look into it.

Funny thing is I've read into the History of the Lysander BEFORE it's role as a night drop/collector of spies.

Would you believe that the Lysander was responsible for shooting down one of the FIRST 110's with it's forward firing guns!!!!! THe tailgunner on another mission shot down a Stuka wile the front gunner in the same mission got a kill of another 110 something or other!!!

ALso the Lysander did have an effective role as a bomber against small ground forces.

Later in the War it was used (as at the start) for supply dropping although some ground attacks were known :O hows that?

Spanky here...

Thats looking very cool.

I bet it could be a kinda cool trainer too.

ITs a well needed addition to the game, we needed some other types such as this.

You hit the nail right on the head!! I am doing a dynamic campaign for Laika's Pe-2...or if anyone wants to send their alphas or betas of planes (*hint*- Me-110, Lysander, "insert your plane here") to me, I will do the same for them After Laika's, I plan on doing one for Razer for a certain plane he sent me

Great ! One thing I would redo - the "gear-thingy", but might be it is just the screenshot that looks a bit strange. My standart questiosn: How much triangles/vertices/polys ??

Snickers, If memory serves, the winglets were only applied when rockets were slung beneath them . The wheels could also house machineguns!!

The Model Data specs:

Objects: 31 Surfaces: 1933 Vertices: 2171

(Kept it VERY basic)

The landing Gear looks OK to me But the screen shot was taken at a strange angle.....the landing gear was so hard to draw because is is rounded and yet square in shape. Hence, I was going to add a light type thing, and may still do so, but at the mo it is to hard....

Armerment, the wheels only housed those huge pylons when carrying something...and so they are to be a "pylon" not part of the model as such : - ) but yes they are there: - ()

As for Guns, yes there are guns, and yes there is ONE (or two) in the back and two in the front (one in each wheel case)

Thx

MrBlob,

It looks really cool! Your polycount is pretty high though. Are you using single sided polys? In comparison, so far my Harrier has only about 700 polys. Your plane will be tough on framerates unless you can reduce them as much as possible. It is possible to keep a nice smooth looking model which looks fine in SDOE without sacraficing too much detail.

Jeeves: "THE WORD......he he...yea by all means send 'um over...would be Gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! THx!

Pete H: The poly count is not as high as that as that is the count IF all sides were 2 sided, AND including ALL the model parts (i.e: about 25 that i deleted). (something is wrong BIG time with my AC3D

Only 3 things are 2 sided: The wheels and fuse. I may re-do the wheels to reduce the poly count further though

THX ALL for your support and comments
