Well, I figured if we are to have Pacific in SDOE (SDOP?) I might as well start on the GUI part of it. So far I have all the Navy planes (even the Jap ones) using the Midway terrain for the Hangar missions. I also have all the cutaway.bmp files for the Navy planes with the Midway terrain in the background. (they look sweet!) I have two missions done. One called Attack on the Akagi and the other one is a Fleet Sight Seeing mission with a rather large amount of ships placed and 4 aircraft for sight seeing. When the land parts become REAL land on Midway I'll do the Training Missions for all the planes to use the Midway terrain. (the Ground Attack ones) I do however have all the Taking Off Training Missions and Landing Training Missions for the Navy planes using aircraft carriers to take off from and land on and using the Midway terrain. So when Nat gets Midway all nice and happy, I'll send him a GUI Pack to post as well. (If Nat wants to)

This will be one step closer to SDOP.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

P.S. Since I cant do zip correctly, could some one do the zip file for me so when you extract it, all the files go in the right place?

You could use my load screen that's in the contest pack. I was thinking of creating a new one with the midway terrain and new ships.

Razer, if you could create that load screen using Midway and the Ships and send it to me that would be great!

I think it's an excellent idea Argon.. almost makes me want to start Malaysia as a side project when I get pi.. er.. annoyed with the Midway problems.. heh

I guess in the end we could package this all up together as SDOE to SDOP Expansion Pack.. hey that sounds cool

Nat, glad you like the idea. Actually, Ive ben working on GUI stuff every time I get something new for SDOE for a while now. All the WWI planes use Somme (except for some of the training missions because I need airfields and towns) and have cutaways with Somme in the background. All the Russian planes use Winter Rhineland and have cutaway's with Winter Rhineland in the background. And all the Navy planes now use Midway and have cutaways with Midway in the background. Ive redone alot of Training and Hangar missions to fit all this together and redid a ton of cutaways to make them the right size and to get the correct terrain in the background. Also Ive done plane text for the Hangar for planes that had none. This gives me a sense of "norm" in the game and adds to the overall completeness. Remember when I posted about the GUI stuff and how it needed to be worked on a long while back? Well thats when I decided to do all this stuff. Its taken a while... (I do a little bit at a time) but this game now feels complete to me (for now, cant wait for the new stuff to come!)
