I have rang, visited all known shops in my area and i have no clue in how to get it. So is it possible for some one to get a copy and i will send them the money and postage costs. Just send a copy of the recipt via email. or alternatively they can burn a copy if that is ok. I prefer that former method, but if all else fails. well beggers cannot be chosers.

hi
Thanks for the phone number, yeah I rang the number and they said that they did not have any, also they stated that it was touch and go if they could get a copy of the game in the near future.

Yes I am old enough to get a card, but due to the fact that I am in between jobs at the moment, no company would give me one. In fact I would never have such a thing, too expensive and a rip off. Also the internet is so insecure for credit cards details to put online.

thanks anyway.

hi

Jerry i know loads of people with credit card, but they would never use it to buy a game online. Beside out of work out of people's minds. So the answer is no. This is the sad fact of life.

Anyway thanks for the interest.

Isa, you keep mentioning a fear of using credit cards online by you and all your friends. Is online security so much worse in the UK? It's very common in the US to use credit cards online and you rarely hear of problems.

I used to own a retail store and believe me it's more dangerous to hand your card to a minimum wage clerk.

True story:

A friend had dinner at a bar/restaurant state-side. Paid with a credit card. Later a bunch of charges showed up - it turned out the waitress had used the credit card number to pay for a bunch of drinks that friends of hers had ordered!

A rare to be sure (my friend won the lottery)but it just goes to show you that stuff can happen.

hi

No interent security is no worse than the USA, we just feel that it is foolist to such important details via the net. The net is not that secure world over. So with all the security breaches mentioned in the USA and stories of hacker screwing up websites, people will not use it until security is improved.

A US computer analysis said on the bbc that the value of internet security in the US is virtually zereo. As with the waiter conning u, after an evening meal, you can always go back or challenge it if u have a problem. After all we all get itemised bills and we know what we pay for, while in the resturant. If you have extra charges on ur bill, complain and produce your bill for that evening, I am sure it will conflict with what the waiter paid through and what is on ur recepit. If then call the police and see the manager.

best wishes

...and if that waiter gives your number to all his friends and then posts it on the internet what do you do?

As for receipts, reputable online retailers email you a receipt.

hi

MM footnote to internet security. I just got my phone bill and I charges for phone calls to the internet , that I should never had. It seems that someone access the BT line and got my dialup connection change. There was an artical in a computeractive (uk people will know this mag) about a guy who surf the net through Cable and wireless and found that he had made calls to moldova. It seems there is a scam going where some sites, give u some software and without realising it, that software changes your dial up connection without u knowing it. So this is not limited to the Uk, but anybody that is on the net.

As for internet security, no I still do not trust it, especially what happen today, this not a UK problem is the whole interent community that has to sought it out.

As for stopping the waiter ripping you off, well you can stop him/her, but you cannot stop him/her from giving your number to his/her friends, but at least you can get the waiter and you know where there work and who to contact if there are problems. In fact if one does not trust people to be honest in places of entertainment, tnen do not use the card,(i do not trust the net for the same reason) or at least check the bill, don't we do that if we pay cash?

This not the same on the interent, you have a problem , well they can tell you to get stuff, and no one is going to help you, say if you live in China and order a pc from America and the company sends you the wrong product.what are u going to do? How are you going to get the money back?

I'm not sure what my friend did but I think he was covered by his credit card company.

The same thing happened to me almost a year back - I got my credit card bill and was surprised to find the charge of around 60 quid on my bill. Surprising because it had been over a year since I had been in the UK and more surprising since after I called the credit card company, I found out that my number had apparently been charged in a restaurant! I only had to fill some forms and the company covered me. So I didn't lose out except for the mild inconvenience although one has to wonder about the general inefficiency of it all - after all, with stuff like this SOMEBODY is losing out.

P.S. Oh yeah - whoever used my credit card number must have eaten like a king. Sixty quid!?

Oh yeah - I think I wasn't clear about what happened to my friend.

The drinks didn't appear on his restaurant bill so he had no way of knowing he was being charged. The charge for the drinks appeared later on his credit card bill - he got suspicious because the charge was at the same restaurant at the same night. He only assumed that the waitress was the guilty party (who else could have pulled it off?).

£60 in a British resturant eating like a king? NO WAY! My Friend works in the Swallow Hotel and it cost £8 JUST for a Ham and Cheese Roll!

As to Credit card security, If you use only lagit sites with secure detail pages and make sure you get a recipt then you are 99% safe. There is a risk with all forms of money, be it credit or what ever.....but if thats what you have to do then thats what you have to do...lifes all about taking risks

who cares about if the site is secure if I've droped a trojan on your PC, and since most people don't know what they are looking for, or even realise that windows stores your details, I'd have a field day if I was a malicious person
