Himdog Pilot	posted 07-26- 08:45 AM MH please don't move this, I know it shouldn't be here but this is very important to me and I think the community too. Thanks. I don't know where to start this so I'll start what happened to me last night. Last night I received a "some what" of a threat from Sun Tzu in a email sent to my home email address. Now Sun Tzu didn't threated my life but he did put a price on my "virtual" life in SDOE. Now this might sound funny to some people but it's not funny to me or my wife. You don't attack someone at home, thats getting very personal. Now I don't care what people put in the "Flame Wars" but when you leave the "Flame Wars" you also leave your "venting" too. You do not carry it outside of the "Flame Wars" this has always been the rule. Now some people might think "Well you shouldn't put your email in your profile", well I do because I have friends here in the forum as well as I trusted the people on this forum too. Most of the people here are good people but you'll get some who are not so trusting. Please everyone who reads this you should go an do a search on "UK, USA or where?" and look at the 15th entry also check the profile and you'll see my point about trusting people. My advice to everyone here is make sure you are very careful about what you say and what you put in your profile. I used to think that this community was the best, I still do but its a little stained now. Now I know why some very good people here left the community, my wife wants me to go as well but I've got too many friends to say goodby, so I'm staying. I just want everyone to know what kind of people are lurking on this forum. Be careful. Thanks everyone. Himdog out IP: Logged

Condor Pilot	posted 07-26- 10:45 AM Hi Himdog, I am not taking any sides but I was just hoping this is just some kind of horrible misunderstanding. Is it possible he was just kidding? I can tell you certainly did not take it as kidding. I understand even kidding can and may times does cross the line. Many times I have said to other pilots who I know pretty well "I'm gonna blast your 6 out a the sky next time I see you online" but only with the best intentions and knowing the other pilot would not take it the wrong way. I guess it comes down to the exact wording he used. If it was just kidding maybe he could apologize here in the forum? Maybe post the email here and we could let you know how we would interpret his wording? I don't really know, I just hope we can all get by this without causing any additional bad feelings. Jerry Pilot	posted 07-26- 11:20 AM Himdog, Sun Tzu thrives on giving and receiving flames, but when you read them there is a very large tongue planted in his cheek. I gave him my best shot recently and he fell down laughing. He doesn't seem to take anything personally so I doubt if his email to you was intentionally mean spirited. Of course this is just a guess since I haven't read it. He is guilty of poor judgement in sending you a flame to your personal email box and owes you an apology for that and for upsetting you and your wife. IP: Logged

She checked the email and as my wife can be sometimes opened up the email and went to the link that was inside the email. This is when she saw that a "Virtual" hit was placed on me in SDOE, no cuss words were used and no "I'm going to get you kind of thing" was used. She was very upset about the "Virtual" hit because for one thing she doesn't understand why we like to play SDOE in the first place. She accepts the fact that I do like it and she is cool with it. What Sun Tzu wants is someone shooting me down online to take a screen shot of it and send it to him so he can post it. Joke or no joke this is not the way he should have handled it. Maybe post it in the "Flame Wars" but not by sending it to my home. For someone to take the time and effort to set that up makes me think twice about him. I take that personal and even more so when my wife gets hurt by it. I'm not trying to pull other people in this mud or get people to join my side on this. I'm just trying to post a warning to other people on this forum to watch out so you don't go through something like this too. We've lost too many good people because of things just like this. Now about a apology to me, he doesn't need to give me one but to my wife Carla yes that would be a step in the right direction. Seriously, I checked the flame wars and unfortunately you deleted the posts. I can't read your responses to Tzu Sun but I figure they were just as 'tasteless' as his were? Don't want to get burnt, don't go to the flame section. Sometimes I think it gets out of hand myself, it's hard to forget the flames when it gets real hot there but it's no one elses fault if you enter into it. I reckon you guys just got carried away with it, hell I could think of more evil ways of getting back at someone than wanting a pic of their wrecked plane! Himdog's wife followed the link, read it and got upset. Sun Tzu has publically apologized for upsetting her. LOL No, I think the only real point here to me is that our little virtual world got out to someone not involved in it, by accident and through maybe poor judgement. If you said the same thing to me, in a private email, that a family member of mine read and misunderstood causing some discomfort to someone I loved, then that would be wrong - unless I had indicated that it was ok. Now, the inclusion of one's email in his/her profile might be read as tacit approval of that; it isn't how I see it, but many do. One answer may be to do as many have done, and not include their email address in their profile, or have one that other family members do not have access to, before participating in any flame or even discussion on FM's, hehe. This appears to have been a slip-up only, and isn't the end of the world; but if it were your wife who had been upset, you might have had a word or two to say. I just look at this as a wake up call, as DanW's unfortunate experience...and I will not email anyone in the forum unless I have a legitimate suggestion or question. My stand on it is that I am supportive of Himdog in his post, and supportive of Sun Tsu in his posts....the Flame Wars section involving him has provided me with much laughter and stress relief. If trying to be objective and refusing to crucify someone without all the facts makes me a bad person then I plead quilty. If you take the time to read my posts both in this thread and in Flame Wars you'll see that I agree with Jeeves and everyone else....Sun's flame link should not have been sent to your home. And you will also see that I was the one who tried hardest to convince him to apologize for upsetting you and your wife. As for your feeling sorry for people who get a kick out a little verbal fencing in Flame Wars...well that's easy to say if you've deleted all your Flame Wars posts like you have. Kinda like the preacher burning all his receipts from the whorehouse isn't it? And to answer your question....yes, I am married and no, she would not have freaked out. Himdog, I've enjoyed your posts and your jokes and the times you have supported my position on things in Flame Wars. I hope you don't stay away too long. See ya. Jerry IP: Logged

From that I suspected you had been just as unsavoury as Sun Tzu, maybe equal flaming but I can't judge that without the evidence. Yes I'm married and No, she wouldn't be upset. In fact more like "You made your bed now lie in it, dickhead" What a gal! Like I said, you enter the flames section then you have to take what comes, I know from past experience that although it is supposed to be a place to vent, people you upset with your point of view can still mar your persona across the board. Personally I find it brings out the worst in people here but can be fun to read! On the email bullshit, if you publicly display your address you are open for emails. I don't see a big neon light saying " only for friends or well wishers". Anyhow, your Wife's reaction and yours is entirely different to mine so I respect your right to find it upsetting.
