Whew, Argon, I found a picture of the Mistel 5, well actually a painting. Here is the painting. This would be very easy for US to do! If you want to do this project. We could form a Mistel Team! Aladar, that is the most screwyest thing Ive ever seen! Ive begun work on a Mistel 3 (Fw-190 ontop of the modified Ju88 instead of the Bf-109) but we can start on this one as well. The Ju-88 would have to be modified emmensely by the looks of that painting. Are you up to that? I can do all the OPS maddness (Ive pretty much figured all that out by now, plus a TON of people helped me with it) In fact that "Ju-88" doesnt even look anything like a Ju-88. Its not even the right size. The He-162s nose weight problem needs to be fixed as well. I believe Pete had the right idea about moving the whole model foward in AC3d. If you can do the modeling the project is on! If you start modeling that bat-out-of-hell use the Mistel Ju-88 as a base. It would make OPS maddness sooo much easier.IP: Logged |

Hello agian, Im basicly done with the Mistel 3. All I really need is for someone to fix the struts under the Fw190a8 (the wheels clip thru them when you put them up or down) and a good Fw190a8 winter skin and whala! [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 07-25-2000).] IP: Logged |

That is not a Ju-88 in that painting...not unless the later variants had jet engines...do you see them?I have no idea what plane that is underneath...but based on the fun I am having with the Mistel 1...I can't wait ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Finnaly, here is more information taken from a modeling site, and another painting!!!This Revell (Europe) 1:72 scale kit of the MISTEL 5 is new in its box. Featuring: He 162 etailed surface structures, Detailed cockpit, Detailed engine, decals Arado E-377a: Structurally detailed surfaces, Two jet engines, Mistel linking system, Detailed take off dolly, Detailed suspension, radar, nose wheel. One of the most remarkeble weapons to be used in the second world war was the Mistel. it was a self-propelled pilotless flying bomb, designed to destroy difficult targets, witch was linked to the command aircraft by special fixtures. The specially developed Arado 377 was given a massive warhead instead of a cockpit. when it got near to the target the command aircraft detached itself from the Mistel.. This item is a nice addition to your: Revell, Airline and modelairplane collection Here is the painting, ------------------ "Don't move, if we scatter, he'll pick us off! Aladar, have you begun the 3d model of the Arado? It says that the Arado sat on a takeoff dolly like the first Arado jet bomber version? If you model that it can be made to detach like the real thing (breaking DOF method) [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 07-25-2000).] IP: Logged |

Great, I just started on the Arado, and the dolly will be modeled. Did you ever think about how expensive it must have been to use two jet engines and slam them into a target?------------------ "Don't move, if we scatter, he'll pick us off! Hmmm... I cant find anything on the Arado 377 but I did find pics of the trolly the 234 used. I'll post those here. I also have Arado 234 info.Span: 46.3 1/2 ft. Length: 41.5 1/2 ft. Height: 14.1 ft. P.S. Yes destroying jet engines like that was a total waste of money and time! No wonder the Luftwaffe fell...

Here is the model of the Arado. The engines are borrowed. The Dolly is still in da werks. You'll have to add the wheels to the dolly, I dont know how (or what) is required to do this. IP: Logged |

Hi I've been readin your posts on your Mistel projects, and was wondering if anyone has found any other information about it. Really can a model maker be belived that a particular plane existed, even existed on drawing boards. I've found a number fo other combinations but never that one. I also think your Mistel 3 is actually refered to as the Mistel 2. The Mistel 2 used a Fw190A-8 and a Ju 88G-1. The Mistel 3 used a Fw190A-8 and a Ju 88G-10 ( a streched version, which your one isnt).

Hmmm... a Mistel 2 eh? There were actually many versions of the Mistel 3. There was the 3c and 3b and so on and so fourth. Tons of combinations were used. As for the Mistel 5. I havent done any research on that yet, but you must admit... it does look cool and would be a neato addition to the 'what if' scenerio.IP: Logged |
