OK - bombs and bomb bays are working now, more or less...the bay load is still invisible and the moving pylons for the large bombs need some more fine tuning. I had to do some more loadouts tomorrow (now only 6xFAB 100 (600kg) and 2xFAB 100 + 2xFAB 250 + 2xFAB 500 = 1700kg). Hmmmm some questions : I'm not sure how to set up the ordWarhead weights, i.e the FAB100 (germ50) bomb is set to 55 - ???? - would be about 20 kg ?? I set the 500kg bombs warhead to 500 lbs, below 1200 ft = no chance to get away in one piece What about the weight of the bombs ??? Germ500 would be only 2xx kg ? Yuk ! I need 500 kg bombs, 250 kg bombs and 100 kg bombs !! What about airfoils, seems they keep inactive until the bomb is released ?! So no change in the FM (except weight) ?? Could we discuss this a bit (or was this discussed somewhere else ?) ?? Ohh - Sergej said we got some tanks out there - I had to go now LK IP: Logged |

Looks great Laika ! Warhead is the amount of explosive not the total weight of the bomb.. try copying a value from one of the other planes in the plane pack with 500kg bombs I think falck set them to reasonable values. TS [This message has been edited by Tailslide (edited 07-19-2000).] IP: Logged |

Lookit that glass under the cockpit!!! Truly amazing Laika...you are quite an artist. Did she ever carry the bigger bombs like those that hung from the Il-2? I just got a plastic model of the IL-2 Stormovik w/ skiis and was curious as to whether the Pe-2 carried them and if so- if you had any plans to model them as you did the rockets and bombs on the I-16...again-- words can't express the awe at what you do...!------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Yeah Jeeves - I need to know if we need new soviet bombs (and german ?). It seems the german bombs are not heavy enought in SDOE - So should I build new bombs (would be FAB100, FAB250, FAB500 and some smaller bomblets (about 20kg each) ) ???LK IP: Logged |

Laika, Ive said it agian and Ill say it now, WoW!!!!!!!!!!! Im more exited for the release of this plane than I am for most flight sim games For the bomb weight, couldnt you just up that in the loadout.ppf file for your Pe-2? Ive tried it and that does work. It does not affect the explosives in the bomb.Oh BTW, did the Russians ever release Pe-2s from I-16s? [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 07-20-2000).] IP: Logged |

A couple of things I discovered making the Dam Buster bombs...--Your "warhead" load for the bombs appears in two different places: the bomb.sm itself and the loadout.ppf. If you set them to different values, the larger value appears to win out. So to tweak the bomb size to prevent "fragging" yourself, don't forget to change both files, or your new value won't be seen. --You can make the bomb explode with a "delay" by eliminating the warhead load from the bomb.sm entirely, and setting the warhead value in the loadout.ppf to zero. Then, adjust the DAMAGE properties in the bomb.sm so that its obHits are, say, 1000, and it then obExplodes with a value of, say, 200. The bomb will then bounce along the ground, taking damage, and explode (hopefully) when you are out of range You can adjust both the obHits and obExplode so that the proper "lag" and shock force for your bomb is created, but IMO the shock effects for all the bombs are way too high in the software. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

As you can see 7 (!) tanks are in, I had to add inertia boxes etc. Should be done in 2 hours ArgonV - ..when all major things are functional.. LK IP: Logged |

I guess no one is reading this topic twice ? Anyway : Fuel cells are in and working, at least hit detection is OK, not sure if the engines use all tanks. How could I figure this out (note: fuel indicator is not working...) ? LK IP: Logged |

LK, that is really looking good. Now all we need is a La-5 to fly support. ------------------

Laika, do you draw fuel from the tanks simultaneously, or can you switch what tank youre using?Havent gotten around to this yet but I plan on playing with it too. BTW she's looking great, keep up the good work. IP: Logged |

Laika, roger that. The sound does work! Kewl song. The fuel indicator needs to be told what tank to get its data from... i.e. qryFuelLevel 'MainIP: Logged |

Laika- I'd just use the engSFC coupled with obFunc/Exec to increase fuel consumption rate if a tank is hit, and also give a relatively high obProb that obExplode occurs when the tank gets hit. I don't think that SDOE is smart enough to handle changing weight distribution as fuel is consumed, so why not just put all of the fuel in one tank, but leave the others with the modifications mentioned above? This way you can easily get an accurate readout on the fuel gauge, and it will appear that all tanks are being used for gas in damage effects, so who cares what it actually looks like "under the covers"? cheers, charm IP: Logged |

Luny - was funny yesterday !ArgonV - lets see - first post from my side was : http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000027.html 12-30-99 in these days I got much time, I worked about 2-3 hours every day and all was going fine, but I decided to make the Pe2 later: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000434.html quote: I think we can put the Pe-2 to the end of the build-list cause the mosquito can do that job
LK801 - 03-04-2000 http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001379.html - Hmm here I said I started 01.04.2000 (means 04-01-2000). However, in June and July I didn't got much time cause the study was hard (more or less), and later the exams...about 1 hour per day... Enought ! LK

- Tail was asking for the tank positions, so I put them in. But in general I rgr with you, also not all tanks should smoke at the same time...only sometimes (with obProp), and more explosions - less fire.LK IP: Logged |

Whoa! Youve done soo much. I wasnt even around this fourm when you first mentioned the Pe-2. Im VERY VERY glad you decided to do this medium bomber. It is one of my most cherished Russian bombers next to the Ilyushin Il-4 and the Sukhoi Su-2 (I always thought the Su-2 just looked cool in its own way) I remember those other posts... How you turned out the model so quickly. Once agian, I thank you, and OUTSTANDING work Laika! BTW, how are your exams going and what are they for? Collage exams? IP: Logged |
