I love it,and am trying to make missions with it,the bomb seems a little wimpy tho? i hit the dam directly and not a scratch? how many do i need to do damage(bomb hits that is) as i am trying to make a mission where it is possible to achieve objective and need to know how many lancs I am gonna need, then count in flak and enemy fighters there will obviously be a loss or two in lancs,so how many minimum will i need?

AI have been known to leave the gear down if the plane has too much fuel..... (more than the plane was designed to handle...)

At the moment, the bomb is as big as it can be without being able to destroy the airplane dropping it from low level. You'll probably notice in the practice mission that the lead aircraft will often destroy the following plane

Not sure what the answer is here. Tried to increase the durability of the aircraft itself, but obviously you can't just make the airplane out of titanium.

There is a fine balance between how much damage the bomb takes before it blows, how big the explosion is, and how far away the plane can get before the blast.

I suppose I could just make a big bomb that could be dropped from medium altitude on the dam, but that wouldn't be as much fun

Maybe we can create a new dam, specifically for Dam Buster missions, which is not quite so strong. Still whirlin this one around in my head...

No i donmt want the bomb to be to big either, i like coming in low to nail the dam,i am trying a mission with 4 of them with damage for dam set to 10 percent,i nailed the dam a few times when the last plane nailed it and almost took it out my mission crashed

Ok i have played with it for a while, the ai put the gear up after the dam buster bomb is dropped, didnt see it happened, but noticed flying back from target that all there gear where now up.Have had alot of crashes since i installed it,ended up doing a complete reinstall. Now I am not saying it was this plane i had alot of other add on stuff too,but after fresh install it still crashed a few times especially when i took over the planes and jumped back and forth.I love it tho, been waiting for it since it was first concieved over a year ago, that bouncing bomb is kewl.Too bad it has to be wimpy but i rather fly low and bounce it then have to drop from up high(maybe we can reconfigure the strength of the dams )But that other bomb is way to powerful I blowed up real good when I used that 1,that 1 definitly needs to be toned down. What was it a nuke?

That is a big 22000lb 'earthquake' bomb, but it bahaves like a strategic nuke in SDOE

Hehe Hawker there is only ONE way to escape from the Grand Slam. Release, turn 90 degrees away immediately, shallow dive to 300+ mph, and pray!

It's actually toned DOWN from the original model sent to me. The original one has the actual real life explosive weight--THAT was like a nuke. The one in the model is only about 30% more powerful than the Tallboy (which is also not easy to escape from).

I'd recommend Tallboys for any sort of "historical" mission. The Grand Slam is just for fun--kill the plane or your whole team is vaporized Both teams in fact.
