The Albany Airport here has a couple special guests for the weekend. Around noon EST today, the Confederate Air Force's B-17 Sentimental Journey will fly in for the weekend...and will also be joined by the CAF's He-111 Blitz Bomber. Anyone want any special pictures? My only regret is that I have to work until 12:30 so I don't get to see them fly in!------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! IP: Logged |

Hey, you wanna send me a ticket so I can fly down there? I got to see both of them take off from here a few years back, and it was amazing! Even caught them fire up the engines. BEAUTIFUL! If you can, try to be there to see them off. It's worth it.IP: Logged |

Wow!!! I had a great time!! Just as we got there, they were taking some people up in Sentimental Journey so I saw the engines start up (just like Meatwater's sounds too- I feel like I've heard it 100 times...well I guess I have )-- it taxiied down a runway...had to wait for a couple Southwestern liners to take off (damn jets!!) and then she just lofted into the sky as pretty as could be. The wife and I walked through her when she got back. The HE-111 was the same as was on the cover of the June 1998 Flight Journal...the Spanish-built one. If you do a search here from a while back-- I posted some pics from the magazine...but took some better ones today. The vertical bombs in the bay...the cockpit...the nose-- all very beautiful!! What a day!!! I will try and post a pic or two...after I dust off the scanner

I saw both aircraft last weekend in Geneseo, NY too. However, only the B-17 flew. I also got some nice photo's of both aircraft, including a few closeups of the He-111. Jeeves, did you notice the He-111 tail gun just below the tail? Apparently, the He-111 tail gun was controled by the pilot. As a side note I got some nice video/audio of an F4F Wildcat in flight. I suppose I could get the F4F engine sound into wav format if anyone wants/needs it.IP: Logged |

Yeah-- I did see the tail gun...in fact I was wlaking and talking with a vet from here in Albany and he was puzzled by it too. I am looking forward to the show in Elmire in Sept...I hear Geneseo has a great one...but it is ways away for me ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!
