I may be going to Las Vegas. Are there any good planes on display that are close enough to see on a day trip? TS

Tail,You may want to see what is available at North Las Vegas airport (I understand that there is some privately owned stuff there) or the museum at Nellis AFB. Unfortunately, the best collections are in Chino, CA and Arizona (Phoenix and Tucson), but that's a little much for a day trip. G-man IP: Logged |

TS,If you can get on Nellis, there is a museum with a bunch of captured Iraqi/Soviet equipment. There is a MiG 15, MiG21, some Hinds, a few tanks and a bunch of SAM stuff. I'm not sure how a civie without an ID card can get on the base though. There is nothing at North Las Vegas, from what I remember. Few other airports..Jean, Henderson, but nothing there if I recall correctly. I was in Radar at Nellis for a year. There is NO Area 51..lol. IP: Logged |

There was an airshow at Nellis in May, it sounded awesome!  I don't think I can postpone my trip until next spring though.
Right Dan, (wink) no area 51. Did you see the arial photos posted on the web from a private surveillance satellite? You can see new airstrips have been built. Not that I'd put it past the government to build airstrips and not use em. TS

Supposedly, if you have international markings on your plane (not US) then you can overfly area 51. It has something to do with the fact that if they shot down that plane there would be a huge international incident over a place that "doesn't exist".........but I wouldn't try it  IP: Logged |

oohh probably, I just wish I could rember who told me that. Did you see the video of the guy who took a little cessna up near the base. He was buzzed by a fighter jet a few times (really close) then they change course.Hey, anybody have the URL to that site that recently posted russian pictures of the *cough* non existant area?
