I know you mean the Blenheim light bomber and teh Lysander(aka Lizzie) high wing monoplane used for special ops.

The Blenheim is just that, light bomber that is obsolete when the war started.

Yesterday I imported a Blenheim 3D model (early variant with short nose) from FS98 into AC3D. This model is probably not detailed enough for SDOE but if you're interested check my post about MDL2DXF in the Tech section. There was also a Halifax that imported nicely (and a Wellington that wouldn't convert )

What did they do in the war? Get shot down mostly (Sorry, couldn't resist that opening)

Now the Havoc, now THAT was an attack plane...

The Blenheim Mk.I saw a lot of action in the Western Desert against Italian fighters like the Cr 42. The Mk.Is were later converted to Mk.IF fighters (don't ask me how you're going to turn'n'burn in these crates).
The successor, the long-nosed Mk.IV, was the main British bomber in the theatre until the Douglas Boston Mk.III arrived.
The Blenheim would surely be a nice addition to SDOE, as would the Boston.

Can you get me specs and PLANS of the Lysander?

I REALLY WANT to make this plane as my first WW2 plane. I LOVE the LYSANDER : - )

Th Blenim (what evrer) was mainly used for light night bombing or anti-shipping runs.

I believe MrBlob said he's bringing the Be2 to Alpha stage. MrBlob check your mail in a while. I managed to find some 3-ways of the Lysander. They dont show the measurments, but its better than nothing.

Thanx ArgonV for the pic and specs. I am NOW starting my 4th project ""The Westland Lysander". - Take note so as nowone else starts it : - )

As top the BE2c? Well I may have to rebuild (3D model wise) all the wings and tail section!!!! And I still have MAJOR bugs with it. So bad that I may just start all over again from scratch! So this may be a while yet. But what it is so far kicks ass!

On another note I think the blenim was also used as a night fighter in Battle of Britain and after......

you are gona hate me for saying this blob but i have flown both the lizzy and the blenhim(or however you spell it)at doxford.
i was standing there miding my own busness. when jhon romain(smaller then me)came up to me and said"what do you want to go in, blehim or the lizzy" i said "lizzy please"
so we jumped in it and headed of to anouther airfield for a display. when we landed i thanked jhon and said "that was great"
but the thing is jhon was flying the blenhim back to doxford and my dad was taking the lizzy.so i jumped in the blenhim.i could sit right at the front near the glass or next to jhon. i went right to the front and belted up.all i can say is great and i mean great!

bye:-)

biggles, What a lucky luck lucky lucky lucky lucky luck young chappy you are ; -)

I would love oneday to be able to see these Fine birds whcih so many of our dear boys fought and died in, let alone experience her flying!

I'll never forget theday I saw a spit V fly at about 100ft of the grounf just infront of me. The RROOOOAAAAAR of the engine sends a chill down your spine.

As for the lysander, I'll start work when I can and I feel IO may need better plans as the fusalage is so complex a shap for creating a model.

Yes the BE2c is teeved with bugs like not showing on the map!!! And so I may have to start again as this is not fixable : - (
P.s: your spelling of Blenhim is right I think? Mine isn't : - ) Having said that a year ago I even prenounced it wrong! or was that Bo-Fight-Err...instead of Beu--Fighte-err?..ho ho he he.....

Bonjour!
The Blenheim is the first night fighter in the WW2 (1940). The plane was equiped with radar in the plane , very basic at this time, but work great (when is not broken....)

The Beaufighter and after, the Mosquito, replace the Bleinheim during the War in night fighting.

You can read the novel : Night fighter, wrote by Robert Wright, very good book!!
Robert Wright is the radar operator for the famous pilot John Cunningham (De Havilland Test pilot)

Hey, the Lizzie didn't have no 20 mm's. It had two 3o3's in the wheel spats, one Vickers Gas Operated (3o3) for the gunner in the Mk.I, and twin Browning 3o3's in the Mk.III. Man, the Lizzie is some machine. The undercart was unbreakable. Read about one fella stalling at 30 ft. (One of those rare occations where a Lizzie stalled) The Lizzie dropped the 30 ft, hit the ground, and nothing happened. That's good engineering!
