For more pics of this bomber see my web site and look for the B-17 header on the first page (check out the hanger).

Yes! Fantastic site! Was the 'bomb' used by that floatplane against the french sub for real?

Great Plane! It does look real! I live right by Ellington Field so I see the Texas Raiders (The REAL one) all the time I even know the guy who flies her and works on her so I got a piece of real B-17 aluminum skin from him!

Yes, the bomb dropped from the float plane was real. The gentleman who has the plane and a gentlman who has a sub regularlly have it out. He was bombing the sub in this pic...
(Took out the sub but also blew off he left horizontal stab). There is a website that recounts this but I dont have the URL.

That's funny. I saw the title and was thinking about an email my dad sent me yesterday:

New experience. From the tower, "You're number two on the runway, behind the B-17."

He lives in Lincoln, NE, so I was thinking that the plane over Davenport might be the same one he was following, yesterday. But I guess it's not

OK, you all though I was fooling....
Check it out: http://kamx-members.xoom.com/grubich/inaction.html
The plane tries to depth charge the sub, the sub tries to shoot the plane down with its deck gun and rocket. Now THIS sounds like fun!!!!!

How can you aim the deck gun on that sub? Radar controlled? Camera mounted on the barrel?

They dont say, but given the $$$ they are putting into their toys I wouldnt be surprised at all if its on a turret with a camera.... Did you get a look at the length of the sub?
