Hi, everyone.

How would you guys rate the AI in Fighter Squadron. I thought it was pretty good until I saw a Me 262 drop its flaps, cut its throttle and try to get into a turning dogfight with a Spit. Needless to say, the Spit cut it to pieces.

Does the AI seem to aware of the strengths/weeknesses of its mount or is it strictly one size fits all in terms of tactics?

It depends a lot on how you have your mission AI settings.

I find high skill level, higher sanity levels and lower agression levels make them less likely to turn fight with you. Also there are settings in each plane to give the AI hints on how to fly it.

I'd rate the AI as much better than EAW since it 1) doesnt cheat! 2) is very unpredictable, doesnt just split S to the deck and scissor 3) Can fly advanced manouvers like rolling scissors

The AI is better than Jane's in that it doesn't boom and zoom as well but is less predictable and has a greater variety of manouvers. Jane's has even more trouble with landings than our AI.

MSCFS has the worst AI of any recent flight sim. This is an important part of the game for me so I haven't spent as much time with it as the other games. The fights were not challeging at all. You know you're in trouble when the default missions have you going 3 planes against 15 and it's still easy.

Can't fly head up, I don't think - due to hardware and geographic limitations. But thanks for asking.

I never realized the AI in SDOE had trouble landing - taking off, yes, but landing, no.

I'll have to agree with you about the AI in CFS. It's very bad and it's also suicidal. I've gotten into more collisions in CFS with enemy aircraft than in any other WWII sim. I thought it was my lousy flying until I started playing EAW and FS: SDOE. Now I just use CFS as a flight sim (fly my Bf109G around Paris - is the arc de triomph there by the way? Only saw the Tour d'Eiffel).

I'll take your hints into mind when designing my own missions.

Thanks.
