He's not up on his Russian planes anyways:

"Yakovlev Yak-3
One ShVAK cannon mounted between the engine banks, with 120 rounds. One Berezin UB in the forward fuselage decking, with 250 rounds. "

The .50cal was sufficient. I read somewhere though that there was a big move to develop higher muzzle velocities since that would lead to a much higher hit/miss ratio.

BTW, I have the stats for all of these guns in the units that openplane uses here, plus the Obhits for each. Notive that the Browning .50cal is about 6 times more powerful than the .303cal.

If anyone wants to copy that page to their own site feel free, so we can maintain consistency in the loadouts.

The charts they provide give a good idea of the energy that a round has. Using SDOE's round energy equation I made the chart above. Obhits is a unit of damage that openplane uses. If a wing detaches on 16 obhits then it will take about 4 hits from the .50cal to detach it.

Tried posting a chart of guns and cannons with MV,weight, shaw damage values, etc but UBB does strange things with tables.

Well damn excel for making the ugliest, most bloated code for a table possible.

I'd cut and paste mine here but its all fouled up.

lol, I hear that.

If it's not too much work, you could always copy the code from my post, then fill in the squares manualy.

OK here goes one more try, its a different table than the one you linked to it has more info. With big tables UBB adds white space to the beginning.
