Ok, I decided to "clean" up SDOE a little. Put Hangar missions here. Add Hangar screen shots there. Fix the ones that werent the right size over there. Made sure all the planes had correct Training missions. Made sure the text for those Training missions fit the plane. Change the name a little of some planes so they could be more correct or uniform. Add some dogfight missions in the Missions section. Corrected the Squadrons for those planes as accurate as I could. Blah Blah Blah... It took 2 hours! What am I getting at? In the future, before you release your projects to the public make sure these things are correct! You wouldnt believe all the spelling errors, and wrong sizes of screen shots there were! And not to forget the lack of Missions or Training missions. This is just some friendly advice for yall. I realize no ones perfect, but some effort in this department would be appriciated by the community and those "rookies" to the game that dont exactly know how to fix stuff like this or make it to their tastes.

maybe as opposed to bitching about what others do you could volunteer to help clear up the problems that exist. Personally I don't think it sends a very good message to everyone when you point out all they have done wrong

Just my observation. Doesn't spanky usually cover these things ?

Totally agree Argon. The truth always hurts but is necersarry to raise the level of the game sometimes. This is so valid in regards to newbies as - No Newbies = No future.

Hehe am I mistaken or did Argon just volunteer to make up all the screen shots and hangar screens and squadron descriptions and training missions for all the new planes?

That might not be a bad trade for having first crack at all the alphas and betas, eh?

I will be more than happy to make screen shots for the planes (I cant however make the stats bmp I dont have photoshop or a good program like that) ,Training missions and fix anything that I am able to... Such has plane descriptions and (if I find the information) Squadron information. Im not flaming anyones work here, I just thought this should be brought up to make the game more 'complete' and 'rookie' friendly. I rarely point out whats wrong, but these things Ive mentioned are issues. I hope people will continue making this game great by putting out more planes and ground units.

On a lighter note, I cant wait to fly the A6M2

I don't care much for the pics, stats, or spelling mistakes. If I wanted a book I'd buy an interactive CD

Don't forget that it is easy to spend as much time on that kinda stuff as the plane itself. I more wish people would spend the extra time to add the final details to planes like shadows, custom sounds, etc.

But each has their own favorite aspects of the game.. that is why it is fun to be able to create! No one dictates what you add or update.

ArgonV, maybe you should release your updates as a UI update pack? The cool thing is that it does not effect online matches. I would download and install it for sure!

I was just havin a go at ya, Argon...

I pretty much agree, once you reach late beta stage, you should include all the files necessary for the plane to function in all parts of the sim and have the same "professional look" as the original planes. As for spelling, hehe, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. As for "attention to detail," take a look at the manual on the original CD, and see if you can figure out what kind of plane is pictured as a "Ju-88." I bet Rohoyboy knows...

As for Bulldog, he appears to be pining for the original plane set and the original flight models. I don't really have a response to that...

Sv, you know that is a good idea. Only problem is I cannot as of yet figure out how to add the file attributes to the zip correctly and alot of the ppf files I updated. Does that have an effect on online stuff? Plus some people have certian planes no one else has. Not every one uses the on-line standard (like me) cause they dont fly on-line. Thats why I like planes also to be released on an idividual basis. So for now I'll take requests if people want this stuff.

BTW, I did notice the "Ju-88A4" in the manual the fist second I opened it up. I wonder how they could of goofed on such a thing?

In my manual, the B-17 is a "F" model instead of a "G", and the Typhoon is the latest variant with a 4-prop blade and bubble canopy whereas the game has the early wariant. But we're nitpicking here.

Huh ? Somewhere I read this "...make the planes for myself" = privat use....

Actually I did not make the planes for myself, I also keep in mind that others might use them, so I try to get them "bug-free".

Argon did mention that some planes does not come with all the "additional" stuuf like hangar pics, missions etc. --- When I'm downloading a plane, I'm interested in it, that means I read some things about it, I followed the builder and "inspected" all the step he did with the plane (form the first progress pic to the final version). So Bulldog1 (and the other moaners), if you're just a "consumer" try to get satisfied with the shipped version ! You don't need to download all that user-build stuff. But if you do, might be good to tell the builder(team) when you found bugs or when you miss things. So it would be easier for them to add/fix things. Not to piss on anyone here

I hope that ArgonV will do some good work ! We definetly need such people wich just start to make things and not starting to moan all the time...

Tail - did you see my lighter, cant find it, hhhhgzzzz, where is it, damn...

Whats the politically correct term for bitching and moaning? Not that I'm saying anyone around here would do such a thing

Not that I want to wade into... "this" or anything, but I just want to throw my 2c in here - While the little things do sometimes bother me, and we could list quite a few, it all evaporates 100% when enjoying the incredible experience that is SDOE, particularly SDOEwar!, so to the builders out there, please keep on building. Warts and all, it makes SDOE so much better. At least that way those for whom the problems are too glaring can choose not to install your work, and those of us who don't mind the occasional 'thing' here or there can. Ah, the freedom of choice!

And another thing: I'm tired of being the only one around here who picks up the beer cans. And empties the ashtrays. And throws away the pizza boxes. You guys live like pigs.

And just look outside. I bet you guys haven't even THOUGHT of mowing the lawn this year. And I'm sorry, 4 stolen kegs and a cable table do NOT qualify as lawn furniture!

I won't even talk about the magazines in the bathroom.

Everyone can start by picking up their clothes too. I don't know how many times I've come home from work, and you guys are just sitting around, doing nothing, and it smells like some sort of Indian sandalwood factory in here.

You could also do yourself a favor by getting a haircut, too. With everyone running around looking like a roadie for Nirvana, you're never going to get a REAL job! And don't look at me like that! Hey, I'm talking to you young man!

MH, isn't that spelt 'Mum'

ArgonV, I agree with you 95 % mate

It's just that the other 5 % understands the time and effort ..... and pressure to release...that the biulders go through. If they decide, for what ever reason, that they want to concentrate on the plane model,FM,DM and ALL the other things that go into making it into the air and not the Hanger pic, spec's or mission etc then so be it. I can fix that like you.

The point about newbies... I agree 100 % here. They probably will not know how to fix these.

Suggestion....Whether part of a project or a loan ranger... Why don't the plane biulders just ask for a GUI assistant. A relatively minor contibution to the project for sure, but it would round it out very well.

Just my 2c worth.

Cheers,

Argon: Some people think you're bitching because what they read is colored by their own mental state at the time they read your posts and the fact that emotions aren't readily conveyed by the written word.

People who don't work on models and code for this playground (that's what FS really is these days) don't realize just how much hard work goes into what does make it into the public. All that hard work tends to wear our nerves down and make us a bit touchy.

The best thing to do (for everyone) is don't reply immediately to a post that sets your teeth on edge. Wait a while, assume that the poster means well and then reply.

Laika 801- err I'm not mad at you buddy but your point about 'out of the box' and that I don't have to download any planes is slightly wrong as if I want to play on line I have no option but to download the on-line standard.

And you know what, I have to appologise for my earlier posts in this topic. I was having a rather tough day and I guess I just used the forum as a bunchbag. SORRY to you all. I have now taken my medication and I love the world again, especially all you wonderfull people here at SDOE.
