Farewell all...where do i start?.

I received FS:SDOE as a prize from Pete Hawk at Fighter Squadron Extreme (I'm sure we all have fonds memories of Pete's site S!) I was hooked from the word go,hooked on the detail, the immersion, this is the only sim that gives me a realistic perception of speed at low altitude (well done MH).
I was always impressed by the community that I found myself in, the talent and the willingness to work together and give.
I consider myself fortunate and priviledged to have made wonderful friends online at cali12, it made for some great flights. Thank you and farewell to Spyder (what a top bloke!!), Mk10, Wolf, Blitzz, Esox(why the long face?hehe) Gun Jam, Tailslide and many many others.
Where am I going? Well after getting my multi-engined instrument rating and commercial licence I'm finally becoming a pilot for Missionary Aviation Fellowship(Australia) who focus on serving remote communities, hence the unlikely chance of flying online. This has been a goal for me for the last 7 years.

Farewell all, thanks Pete Hawk for FS Extreme, you were far more instrumental than you could imagine.

Cheers Zippo

P.S. Go the mighty =225th=, their just ahead of the wonderful =224.5=!!

Good luck and God speed to you Zippo. Why ever would you give up flying the sim when you can fly for real

Ah, take off ya sod! We never did like ya anyway! Nyeh!

Oh jeez, sniff...he was just starting to wear the clothes...sniff...looked so damn good in'em too...sniff...

Hey man, that sounds incredible. Truly. I thought it was pretty hip when you got the multi-engine deal, and it looks like you're putting it to work pretty quick.

You were pretty darn easy to get used to having around, and not having you around will take some getting used to.

In the unguarded moments of life, when we look up to the sky, we'll think of you flying free...unfettered...ferrying Faith to fearless frontiersmen and folks across the wide expanses of the Australian Wilderness.

But you're not off the hook that easy...we expect reports from time to time, and with the advent of digital cameras and scanners and such, we'll expect occaisional documentation of your adventures. It'll ease the pain of just being a regular Joe with a job and a house and a mortgage and a bunch of bills and...

If it would be alright with you, we'd probably like to think of you as a 225th Emeritus. Leave a mug with "Zippo" on it behind the bar...that sort of thing. Let us know if that would be acceptable. It would of course be fillable, for free, at any time in the future. We'll still be here. We don't really have lives to speak of! LOL

Bonne Chance mon ami! S!

Wow Zippo that's great! Many years ago, I began flying and wrenching with the hope of joining MAF. I found out soon that a heart condition would disqualify me from any commercial license down the road, pretty much bringing my flying dreams to an end. I continued on with my mechanic's ticket for a while and then moved on.

I'm so happy to hear that you are able to follow your dream. MAF mechanics and pilots are some of the finest trained in the world. Cessna has consulted with MAF mechanics in the redesign of some of their aircraft. Congratulations and God's blessings!

Zippo; while your news leaves me saddened that I will no longer be seeing you online, I am filled with happiness that you have accomplished what you have wished for.

Congratulations sounds so weak, but I send it to ya with my heartfelt thanks for some wonderful flights online. I'll miss ya....hmmm, come to think of it, when we were opponents online, I usually missed ya anyway.. I hope too you will stop by here occasionally and say HI!

We shall leave the light on for your return Zippo.
If you're nearby in your plane some day, drop in and have a cuppa. Some tim tam's in the fridge and a cool can of emu bitter to put a smile on yer dial.
All the best Zippo, I'm sure you're going to have some amazing stories to tell later.
It was a pleasure to share in your humour and online flying, I tip my hat to you.
Take care.

.....and the band played on....

..If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistling]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistling]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistling]

Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistling]
