Hi guys, Where have you all gone?

I had to do a full Windows install and have been away lately, but the last time I managed to get on was when Hippie had a few friends on and that was about a month and a half to 2 months ago.

Have you all stopped playing SDOE??
Has the aussie night changed??

It would be great to get back online again so please let me know when the next best time is.

The main thing for down under is scheduling. We (we being non-Australians) usually fly on cal12 at 3am - 8am GMT.

That is 9pm - 2am CST in the US.

Spyder usually flies with us, as he is W. Aus, and that is like 11am - 4pm or so to him. That doesn't work with regular work schedules I'm sure, but would open up weekends for sure.

Also, I think there's some sort of secret Australian Society that gets together in "normal" Australian evening times. You may have to pass some test, or learn a secret handshake or something.

Hope to see you soon in the skies!

Thunder, you might want to post nights and times pilots from the Land of Marsupials might be flying in GMT.

There might be the odd pilot that has a day off, is home playing hookey, or just decides to clear their calender to fly with you guys.

I.e. if it was 9pm there, that'd be 7am here. 10pm, 8am, etc. You might get some other folks on too.

Just a thought.

I'm in NZ (close enough?). What times are you on? What day? What server (I have never seen anyone in aus)?

Yeah Agas is right, more than two on the Aus server might blow the bloody thing up in fright!
Have you tried the cal12 server on the weekend Thunder?
Somewhere around 1pm till 5pm your time.
12+ in a game is more fun than 3, not that I don't mind a dogfight now and then but missions are more fun.
Other than that I can still pop in for a Wednesday night bash now and then.

I'd like to fly at a regular time with other Australians, but we don't seem to have a critical mass of people in Australia who play FS:SDOE online. It is good to have games with less lagg and packet loss.

I'll try and turn up regularly on Wed night
at 8:00pm (10:00 GMT?) on the Australian server,
but it gets a bit dull when no one else
turns up

Maybe we should start a mailing list for
Australian FS:SDOE online flyers?

I'll be there if I can. Normally I don't get to monopilise the phone line and ignore the wife until after 9:00-9:30.

Is there a ICQ list or something similar with aussie flyers to help see who's online?

This still seems to cause some confusion regarding the server pings.
Being peer to peer our pings are the same wherever we fly, be it cal 12 or Aus.
The servers are really just meeting areas to chat before launch.
I think Mighty cleared this up some time ago but correct me if I'm wrong there.
This means it doesn't matter where we choose to fly from the peer to peer issue.
I know this appears to be correct as I had someone from the UK fly with me in the Aus server and his ping was the same in Cal 12 also.

Gosh, 6am US CST Daylight Savings Time on Wednesday mornings. Whew! Would it be better to get up early, or stay up all night? Either way, sounds like a trip to the truckstop!

Spyder,

I just meant that if we are all in Australia the peer to peer ping times should be better since we don't have to go across the overseas links. I know it doesn't really matter what server we meet on.

I know what you're saying there Hippie but are in fact going across the links? I mean I see Zippo's ping at the same rate when he's on the Aus server or at Cal12 so isn't peer to peer our direct link regardless where we sit on the lobbies?
That's my understanding of it anyhow.
I see the server as just being a third person we are chatting with, sorta, I think. Oh I'm confused!

Hi all,

I was playing SDOE some months ago (if you remember that means you've shot me down at least once), then got rid of my ISP - too much work, gettin married, buying house............

Anyway, short story long, I intend to get back to flying online. Wednesday nights would suit though due to work I can guarantee not being a regular.

If someone's intending to do an email list to advise nights, I can be contacted on:

damian.deveney@shell.com.au

I'm in Perth.

Cheers,

Marvin
