Ok, after 14 months of playing this game, I've decided something. I like it. I saw a post today asking which game is better MS Combat SIM, WWII Fighters or FS-SDOE. I decided I need to make a separate post so here it is.

I was thinking last night as I went to bed after 1:00am for the XX night in a row that perhaps I have an addiction - hmm - I knew this about a year ago. I've flown the demos of EAW, Janes (WWII and a few Jet versions), Ace's High (open beta), 90 days of Fighter Ace and a few others. Really I've kept an open mind but I just can't let SDOE go. There is something about it that says "just one more mission".

I won't get into a debate about which is better because I really can't make a true comparison having only flown the demo versions of WWII and EAW - I have Flight Simulator 2000 (I took it off my harddrive after two months of it holding space without use - perhaps it set my expectation for MS combatsim ).

If anyone asked me if I thought SDOE was worth the 50 bucks - let me think - 14 months * 20 days a month (give or take)* 3 hours per night = $0.06 per hour. And every hour I play it gets cheaper. Cool. I have never experienced a game that kept my interest so high for so long. I've bought a few games since but most get little or no action after a few weeks. (compare to Fighter Ace (which I had gotten bored of a year ago) @ $15.00 CDN per month * 14 months =$210, or Ace's High @ $45.00 CDN / month =$540. Let alone the hourly rates). I have gotten my money's worth.

To Parsoft/Inertia and MH and Mighty - Thanks a million for a great game that keeps getting better. The last week online has been one of the best I've had since I bought the game. We're running up to 12 player missions and continuous play. Sure we still have the desktops and lag but what game has ever been perfect and free of lag problems?

Right on Spin !

I did buy em all. A few FA2 subscriptions and time in the AH beta, EAW, Nations, MSCFS, WW2 fighters, Mig Alley, Falcon 4, probably a couple others if I look under the couch.. SDOE is the only one out of the bunch that kept me captivated for more than a few weeks let alone over a year !

I'm with you Spin and I'm not joking when I say that I would pay a lot of money to spend a weeks vacation alone with a cooler, arm chair and SDOE. I wonder if the state of NY allows divorce due to sim addiction, I'll have to look into it.

Hello, My name is Raider, and I am a SDOEolic. Been using for over a year.

Every time I try and quit, someone gives me some free stuff (SE5a, Jug, 109's, ships) it is hopeless I tell ya.

I will not give up my SDOE until SDOE 2 (Project X)

Thanks to all who have made this the best Sim ever.

rgr that Spin. I've got lots of games of all kinds (FPS, RTS, RPG, driving sims, ect) and I play sdoe the most of all. Because of sdoe I really don't play eaw and falcon 4 that much if at all. SDOE is just "Fun".
Cheers

Shoot, forgot one of the most important things about sdoe, the people here are the best I've come across on the net

Somehow my computer was turned into a OP/SDOE modelling machine. Can I fix this somehow ??

I really hope that MH will finish that magic patch someday. But, even without a patch - it's unbelievable what you can do with this sim !

Falcon 4 is still on my machine, MSFS has been removed. None of the others were there for more than 2 days.
Yes, thanks. MH, Mighty and anyone else involved.

OP/SDOE is great.
Why? Because all day we have something new.
