Beta 51 Real P51
time to 30k < 10 mins 13 mins
top speed SL 363 mph 375 mph
roll rate @300mph ~96 deg/sec ~96 deg/sec

Beta p51 is 100lbs too light when fully fuelled.

Also I noticed the plane still turns worse with flaps down it makes it hard to bring the plane over the tops of loops.

On my system (p3-700, TNT2U, fog at 12) I went from 25fps in the old p51 to 19fps in the new p51 using in-cockpit view when looking down and sitting on the runway.

Hope this helps..

Thanks TS, this will be a big help. The FM was not supposed to change yet.

I said I was going to post a beta, then when I got ready to zip it up I tried a couple of things with the FM just to see how it worked. Then when I tried to put it back I could not get it back to the original. The back-up that I have with the good FM did not have many of the other changes, so I just posted it as is.

The next beta should be back to Pang's FM unless he wants to tweek it. I did plan on doing the same test that you just did and give him the results. Thanks for the help on this.

I would also like to see the turnrate increase with flaps down a notch, and also there should be an edge. Where it would really turn well, but it would be very easy to spin if you go over that edge.

As for the frame rate. The original cockpit will be an option without moving canopy, canopy refelctions or joystick. That should bring the FR back up.

Outside view the spinner, rudder and elevators all will reduce FR up close but we will use the 2nd lod at a close range so it should not hurt viewing it from another plane.

Please continue to give us feedback and suggestions.

Could you do one with a sliding canopy, but no joystick or reflections. Love those sliding canopies.

Thanks.

Send me the plane when you're done with all the modelling and I'll see what I can do. I must say, this is one plane that I've REALLY been looking forward to seeing!

In terms of the flap thing, Tailslide. We reverted to the old airfoil, right? If this is not the case, I'll grab it out of the original par file and get rid of the unstall junk, ok?
