Topic: One Final Plea For A B-25!!

Yes, its me again pleading for a Mitchel B-25. I realize that I don't contribute anything besides posts to the community but look at it this way. The need for aircraft from all nations is obvious. I would think that even more obvious would be the need to complete all of the categories of the U.S. Air fleet. Too complete the U.S. side a medium bomber is needed. I don't consider the Mossie a true medium bomber. I know that a B-25 has been started, and I am not talking to any one individual. I am just asking that we postpone some other projects until we get the U.S. fleet complete. A bomber is a much more complex undertaking and takes time I realize. If I can help with research or testing, and maybe some more people can get on board as well.Thank you and Carry On! ------------------ (Kill'em All, Sort'em out Later ) -=BAB=- Gunner

As it was orignally my project is been on hold for sometime. I can't at the moment work or add any new projects to my ever growing list. The 3D model i did was sent to jedi many months ago but with no news the project may be dead and might need to be taken over by someone else.------------------

OK, it will be tomorrow before i can get it. It's in AC3D format, and It's the whole plane minus the cockpit, guns, gear, and gear doors. This was done about 3 months ago and i've learned a ton of new modeling things so the stuff in it is pretty crappy.------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin http://www.fshangar.com [This message has been edited by Razer (edited 06-06-2000).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here... What ever happened to Jedi? He did some great work on the planes he worked on. I hope we didn't lose him. [This message has been edited by Spanky the Mad Dog (edited 06-06-2000).] IP: Logged |

To tell you th e truth I don't care if it is a glass nose, a solid nose gunship or pink with polka dots. I think it is sorely needed. And if I had any time (or talent) I would do it myself. So all you model masters please consider it.

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated I have a B-25 flying in the sim (sorta) although it looks a little odd (still has rear fuselage from the B-17). I've committed to helping out on the SBD and another project (I think), so the 25 will be low priority, but I should be able to do something with it next week... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Way to go jedi! I know you have much to do and there are only so many hours in the day. If your F4U-1 is any indication, I'm sure you will create a B-25 beauty!----------------- =Campaign For A Mitchell= -=BAB=-Gunner [This message has been edited by Gunner (edited 06-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

Very nice Von, I am hopefull to create a wave of enthusiasm for this project! As I have stated before, we need a medium bomber and the Mitchell was the most versital. And a sweetheart to fly. now i know just how lonely tailgunners were. Oh yeah the airshow is on again on this sunday in Enniskillen. is any one going? Infact is any one here from Northern Ireland? I also have seen a Blenheim (forget spelling) The b-17 i was in is the one in Memphis Belle. Which is weird 'cause this is a G with chin turret etc.IP: Logged |

Lets see - the "basic"-shapes of the plane are looking quiet simple (I mean the outside, fuse and stuff). With good scale plans and some time (and some luck). A good modeller could model the outside in about 1 week (or maybe 2). BUT the inside and the turrets (and all the resulting crew positions )- OH MY GOD !!! Maybe I'm a bit pessimistic because of my own problems with such stuff, 2 months minimum (with full working cockpit and turrets etc) with hard work every day. Hmmm - Gunner you need at least 2-5 (ore even more ) talented guys with nothing else to do...or you start it by yourself knowing that this is a hard job (you'll lost all your hair if you got any) and you could end in the madhouse...This nice plane should be a team-work-thingy !!! I agree, but I have no talent in this area. Thats why I am making this plea.I am determined to make a case and inspire some enthusiasum for this this plane. It is very much needed! Some might say I don't have any talent in the flying area either, hehe ------------------ =Campaign For A Mitchell= -=BAB=-Gunner IP: Logged |

I too am a B-25 fan, and I feel your pain.As far as the weapons go, can't the guns be yanked off the B-17, and then modified. Lower detail=less of a hit on fps=more bombers in the air. I would gladly give up some of that B-17 interior to get a few more of them in the sky. Maybe I'm lazy but why do more work than you have to. IP: Logged |

The basic model is almost done actually I've got one more adjustment to make before I can post a screenshot, and about a hundred little tweaks before it could be an alpha that I'd actually release, but it looks like a B-25 at least. It's basically a B-17 with a lot of stuff removed. One of the main problems is that the B-17 wasn't built very "cleverly." For example, the instruments aren't "children" of the instrument panel. So to move the instruments to the correct position, you've got to move each one individually, and there's a LOT of em.My plan is to create a decent 3D model with a "workable" but not accurate cockpit and interior. The turret, rear gunner, and waist gunners are in place, but the forward armament is not in yet (anybody got the data on the 75mm?) I'll skin the thing if I have to, but there are a LOT of guys who do that better than I do. After that it'll be up to the fanatics to finish her off I'll try to post a picture later today... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Yahoooo! You know my dad always said, "If you want something, find a way to get" and "If you can't do something, find someone who can" Ok, so he's not a Philosopher, but he is rite! I know I'm a pain in the ass, though I think everyone will be happy to see it. When I see the progress, I promise to cease and dissist all whinning and will begin the encouragement leg of this campiagn. Thanks guys ------------------ =Campaign For A Mitchell= -=BAB=-Gunner IP: Logged |
