Since I made my promise about 2 months ago to do a 'general upgrade pack' for SDOE, I've been keeping track of all the new add-ons. This includes all new ground objects, naval vessels, WWI Aircraft, WWII Aircraft, Contest Aircraft, mission packs, Plane Packs (ie 5.3a), campaigns, AND Nations add-on. So far, the upgrade is looking to be around 30 Megs with an additional terrain upgrade at 60 Megs. I would like to make the deadline for the first edition on July 1st, 2000, and then publish Service Pack Version 1.0 on the 4th of July. Guidelines: No beta aircraft or ground objects, official releases only. Question is, does everyone still want this and does anyone want to help in making sure I have every available product for SDOE? Speak now or forever hold your peace Spoon [This message has been edited by Spoonman (edited 06-03-2000).] IP: Logged |

This sounds great to me. Do you still plan on burning some CD's with all the goods? And if so what kind of 'donation' would be appropriate? weasel...IP: Logged |

An all in one download would be very convienent. It would take some doing to scrape everything together from the far flung regions of the internet. Are you including all the skins in your pack aswell?IP: Logged |

Hey Spoonman, Can you try and sweet talk Panzer and RoadToad into letting us include the finished version of the Go229, He152 and Ta152? These are all sweet and very well done. Thanks, Snickers =FC=[This message has been edited by Snickers (edited 06-04-2000).] IP: Logged |

If you are going to be able to put it on a CD like previously mentioned, I'm very interested. However, if that's the case I think there should be a folder of beta planes included. It is much easier to upgrade a plane if you already have most of its textures and sounds you know, also, what else would you do with the 500 megs of free space? I suppose you could put some "evaluation" MAME ROMs on it :-) just kidding charm IP: Logged |

Hello, I do want to say that playing SDOE has been enjoyable, and the planes are really nice looking. I flew the pup today and too nice work. I don't know to much of the ins and outs, but I'm learning. So maybe what I can the beat is; Keep on keep'ng on.IP: Logged |

My purpose is to provide a single point download for all SDOE pilots. The Service Pack would have the latest 'official' releases and would allow players to download a single file that would give them:
- Update to the online standard
- Latest user created missions
- Contest Aircraft
- Latest Ground/Sea objects such as
Aircraft Carriers, and Destroyers
- Meatwater's and Gunjam's sound patches
In essence, if you deleted your SDOE folder completely, and then installed the Service Pack, you would be caught up on 100% to all non-beta add-ons for SDOE. As for the CD option, I'm still looking into it. All I would ask is that you pay for shipping and the cost of the CD. That's going to be tricky because of the Openpplane legal agreement with Activision. If there is no interest, this will die right here. Speak up guys - I want to know if you all want this. Spanky here... I think with the installers that dogma has added to alot of the add ons. There really isn't a big need for one. Of course thats only if we have a good page on what and how to install everyting. AN EASILY FOUND ONE. I should say.

Is there going to be a problem with online conflicts between this and the plane packs or will the upgrade pack be a "superset" that includes the plane packs? TS IP: Logged |

I think its a great idea. Keeping up with this game is fun but, it's almost a full time job. If your willing, I'm downloading!=Campaign For A Mitchell= -=BAB=- Gunner IP: Logged |

As long as there's an option to not install parts. For example, I have some sounds I like better than meatwater's, wouldn't want to install over them.IP: Logged |

Spoon-I think the idea itself is nice of you but if it isnt a CD based promotion I dont see the point. We already have a place that is becoming a central upload/download site for SDOE related files (simfiles) and all of the newer files (WWI, etc..) except sounds will be in the 5.4pp. No offense - Just my two cents ------------------

I like the CD flavor of this. If you do not like some files like sound files or skins, you do not have to load them from the CD. You would still have instant access to all of them plus all of the essential stuff like Nations and Plane packs. The CD could be divided into folders for skins, sounds, extra planes not in a plane pack yet, plane pack, Nations, etc. etc.... Just a suggestion... weasel...IP: Logged |

Sounds really good. I sort of taken a vacation from FSDOE because it was too difficult to stay on top of all the downloads. I decided to wait for the whole thing to stabilize a bit - too much of a good thing I guess. IP: Logged |
