PR, "A pilot is considered dead when he is either killed in combat, dies in a crash, bails out over enemy territory, or bails out over water". This sounds good until the part of "bails out over water". That pilot could be picked up by a ship of some kind. I was thinking it would be ok if you bailed out over water, just my 0.02. You're the man on this and it's your call. Himdog out

For pilots like me, it doesn't matter; can't swim, afraid to jump!! Hehe. Actually in future this could be implemented on a random basis, like a die roll, but for now to get rolling, this should work ok.

ok, quick state that will screw things up. Some planes don't have pilots in them so you can't bailout. the plane just dies and it crashes into the ground. you need to make sure all planes that are in the war have pilots in them. then they can be killed and bailout. no pilot, no bailout. Oh yea, i've signed up for AXIS!!! lets rock. (when my puter is running that is) ------------------

water bailouts:need to draw a line down the middle of the water. If you bailout over allied side of the water your fine. bailout over the axis side and your MIA. and visa versa for the other sides. That's what i'd do. ------------------

Spanky here... Actually I like the land in the water and die thing. Cause how are you going to draw that line? And how can you tell what side of that line you bailed on since the pilot always loses he chute and goes right through the ground really fast? I say simple is better. I got 2 questions for yas though. #1. how do we cope with the ground bug? Ya might as well make a rule for that right now instead of waiting till we fly. Half the people will see no destruction of a town and to the rest it will be finished. #2. Spies Anyone could sign up for the allies and fly sub par and pass information off to the axis commander. That was war and it will be here too. This is also a big descusion on the ww2 online forums. Personally I think its part of war and you might as well not even try to stop its cause its pretty much impossible.

While there is no easy solution to the Pilot bailout, the...did he live or did he die scenario, we did what we felt was the fairest, and easiest method to keep track of deaths due to bailouts.Sure, the Pilot who bailed out over water could have lived, or he could have been eaten by sharks, or died of exposure, or drowned, or landed on a desert island and made radio's out of coconut shells. The method we have decided on is simply the easiest to track and not get into alot of random elements, and dice throwing. Although I would have insisted on the Magic Eightball if it had come to that. Maybe in future Wars, when the PBY is finally done we could say that if a side chose to use the PBY as one of their planes, and it had not been shot down, that the side using it could simulte picking a downed pilot up. But's that's down the road. For now, what say we go with the present solution. Razer Some planes don't have pilots? Ya lost me buddy. Which planes don't have pilots? Spanky The ground destruction bug. Well, we can't rewrite the game code, so our solution is to have the Mission Observer enter the game with his alliegence set to that side on the attacking forces. The display would then show the Targets and Planes that side had, and would then draw on line through those targets whose destruction level has been reached. As to the bomb bug, we had discussed using the Beta build for the War for just this reason. Don't know how we could stop some unscrupulous flyer from spying. Except that if a spy was caught they could be locked up. Which in the case of the War, that pilot would be forbiden from participating anymore. Hopefully we ahve a better bunch of guys here than that. Most of the SDOE flyers I know would prefer to win on there own merits. That it? Signup! And where are the Commanders? Whats amatter? You guys scared to lead this group of knuckleheads? PR=FC= IP: Logged |

RazorYou are the Allied Commander! Congratulations! O.k. all you Allied pilots....Snap to Attention when your Commander enters the room! I will forward details to you about what The War Department will need from you throughout the War General. You and the eventual Axis Commander will have almost total autonomy in regards to how you manage your assets, and pilots throughout the War. Pilots medals, ranks, Ace requirments, as well as who flys in which missions, etc. will be totally up to the Commander of the respective sides. Add to that your responsibilty in terms of purchasing assets, intelligence, and target input, and your ability as a Commander will be put to the test. Good Luck General! Now who will Command the Axis???? PR=FC=

Can I command the Axis? You know my terms. I'll be wanting a nice uniform, lots of braid and stuff, medals and a gold-plated Luger. And flunkies to do stuff for me. Nobody will call me Hermann or otherwise take the p***. And I get to put miscreants up on meat-hooks. And film it and sell the tapes, like what adolf did. Where do I sign then? IP: Logged |

Sorry Rog, I was joking. But I appreciate the offer and your confidence in me. Unfortunately, after my experience with my multiplay and LAN getting messed up by an add-on, I no longer play SDoE online. I had to reinstall windows last time. I know a lot of people have said the add-ons/plane-packs can't cause such probs but I'm 100% sure it was the Corsair pack. It seems to be system specific, in that it doesn't hit everyones' PCs the same. Anyway, I'm too frit to DL any SDoE stuff anymore. But, since you started this war, we have authorised Jv44 pilots to officially participate...did that a couple of days ago. All the best with it mate and have lots of fun! IP: Logged |

Kinda thought you were goshing, but I also couldn't help but be intriqued with the idea of a General Siggi guiding his men into comabat. I'll bet you would have kept the Allied Commander on his toes. Glad to hear that about the JV44, although that does spell bad news for the Allies. Those guys are tough cookies. Why don't you talk one of your squad mates into leading this group? PR=FC= IP: Logged |

Hey Razor I signed up for Allies (I'm over patriotic : - ), If you need a wing commander or 1st Lt then I'd be glad to talk tactics with you. Your second in command type thing. I couldn't be a commander but I do like to talk tacktics and suggest things ; - )Mail me if your interested? As for the ater thing how about this: If you land in the water VERY close to hostle control then you are MIA. BUT if you land CLOSE to Your control then you are safe. If you are in the middle then you have to report your location. Then the next mission/ Part of the campain it could be the job of one aircraft to try and fing you. For this we would need someone to model a dinggy. If Then ENEMY find the dingy FIRST you are MIA if you find the dinggy the you are Rescued? Just a thought. We need to use NO TARGETS ON MAP to make this campain better realy... May I suggest something else? If we Had no showwwing of enemy on map then we could have REAL Recon missions. One or two plane take screen shots and give it to there commanders for intelegence. Better recon, Better chance of winnning the war! This would be realy realistic. ------------------ "MrBlob is Currently Working on: The BE2c" Check out my WW1 Website for Fighter tactics and History: www.MrBlob.Freeserve.Co.uk/doattt

Doesn't matter if it's 109's or 190's...although I fight pretty well in the Zero. After my embarrassment, I went bacck to single player and couldn't even beat the AI!! I fly very clumsily in the 109 and realize I need to practice more and make less missions Give me a Lightning Sir and I'll help win the war!!!!------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

In regards to commanders, if one person is picked for either side, what happens if a commander can't make it to one particular installment of the war? Should we perhaps have three or four commanders, like a 4, 3, 2 and 1 star general? He who is most senior leads the battle? If so, I wouldn't mind being a low-end luftwaffe commander. If I had more time I'd request the top job but I'm too erratic with my time online and I wouldn't want to hurt the cause. Werner ------------------ It's coming... The NEW bcatp! Actually, Commanders would not have to fly at all. Not if they had enough pilots to fill the missions. Each side (Axis & Allied) will be required to announce to the Observer the Senior Officer for that mission. As far as second in Commands, or any other kind of officers. That is totally up to each Commander to decide. If he wants to promote flyers to officers to help him with the facilitation of the war, it's up to him. I would, if I was a Commander, but I'd do all kinds of things, that another Commander might not. That is whats so intriquing about this. Each sides Commander will play a HUGE roll in the outcome of the War. Screw up a few times, you might have some pilots looking for your head on a pike. By the way are all the Axis flyers afraid to be Commanders? How do you say little kitty in German? PR=FC=

PR =FC= With respect; Our command structure is disiplined and relies on the chain of command to be adhered to without question. SO we have no fear of accepting authority. Our efficiency and strength are qualities, together with patience, and Our Trust in our Superior officers to make their comments known and understood clearly beforehand. The Final Decision of the JV44 Commander, to stand forward as War General in this theatre only after a period of time, thus allowing others, JV44 or otherwise in expressing themselves suitable or not for this position , shows a quality that not to many Commanders can match.
