Finally got a computer that could run SDOE and got all the necessary updates loaded last night. I had gone online to check my e-mail and decided to see what it took to connect with cali12. Found Psi and a couple of others preparing to fly. They talked me into giving it a try. It was a blast even though I didn't last too long. Now I have a lot of questions (like how do you communicate while flying, how do you restart once you've crashed, how do you rejoin a game that you left, ...). Hopefully there is some documentation on the CD because it didn't come with a manual. Hope to see you guys again when I have more time and a better idea of what I am doing.JJ IP: Logged |

Sorry dude once you've left a game or you've been killed you cannot rejoin. You have to wait in the lobby for the others to return from their mission. Sometimes the "Regeneration" or "God Mode" is clicked on and this allows you to get another AC in that mission. But that's not really to popular with most flyers in FS and with me either. When you know you got only one shot at the mission it gives you a sense of urgency to do your best. You'll find that you will improve over time and each kill will give you confidence. Surviving the mission will become key to you. As to; (like how do you communicate while flying, press the key under the "Esc" key "`" type your message and hit enter. If your flying a bomber don't accidentally drop your bombs by hitting "Enter" without hitting "`" first as I have done in the past...

One of the most under noted thing about FS online, is that when you die, you can just switch views to other peoples planes and watch the rest of the battle unfold, either from thier cockpit, or from an external view. And this is what many people do after they've been shot down.(the key is F5 then I use my hat do pan around)IP: Logged |

rgr that Archy, the people I fly with usually (Psi, nealg Spyder etc) usually stay in the mission to watch it out, hey if your part of the fight it's cool to saty and see what happens.. other than that, who wants to go wait in the lobby till they're done! The only time I can remember everyone leaving the mission was the best online mission I've had.. me and nealg=FC= were the only two left in there, we were dog fighting it out in a spit and 109 for over 10 mins before we both went winchester, and I didn't use flaps in a low diving bank and ripped the underside out of the spit.. I think everyone realised it wasn't going to be over anytime soon and it wasn'tBest dogfight ever for me.. great mission neal, I'm sure you remember it  ~Nat~ Double J, once you get into SDOE online, you'll like the regen missions for a change now and again, but I think like most of us, you'll prefer the kill or be killed Look out for SDOE War IP: Logged |

Indeed I do remember that one, Nat!! Though I am surprised you did, as you fly with so many of the best online! It was indeed a fantastic fight, and I was very lucky you made that one error, cause you had me! ( Eventually, hehe ).One point about the F5; for me, anyway, - make sure you have the 'control all vehicles ' disabled while online before using F5. I believe I have heard others mention that, too. Double J, you are going to really enjoy this sim online!! Welcome to the asylum known as SDOE!!

Thanks for the responses.I like the idea of 1 life. I have lurked around one of the Warbirds forums and one of the issues they seem to complain about is people not flying to survive. I was kind of lost after I crashed because I could not ask any questions and could not see what was happening. I will have to get into the game more and find out all the commands and should try to program my joystick so things work better. JJ IP: Logged |

I don't know if Ronin has been keeping up with the newest commands but I use his command card and it works great for me I just shrunk the text and cut and pasted it all on 1 side of a large card and clip it next to my monitor for fast referance, and i ofcourse add onto it in MSWord.
