Just thought I'd take a moment to comment on Archys tank. Archy myself and der boom just got through shooting at each other in the Tiger II. Loads of fun and to Archy, very creative, thanks for something new. If you don't have it get it... PsiIP: Logged |

I cant get SDOE to recognize and 'fly' the Tiger II. Its not displayed anywhere in the Training and Hangar sections.IP: Logged |

The tigerII is self contained, and shouldnt screw up anything. To use it: either create a mission for it(it is an aircraft unit not ground unit) or copy the sample mission(.mis) from the zip pack to media/missions/africa and you will see it under africa missions. I'm not sure how you get it to appear in hangar or training maybe someone who knows can volunteer.[This message has been edited by Archy (edited 05-29-2000).] IP: Logged |

Heya Archy, awesome job!!! Sorry I couldn't meet you guys online, but I tried it offline - WOW!! Please let me know as soon as it gets skinned, I have a few schemes I want to paint it with. Awesome work on the 'cockpit' and the hatch/commander transition. Absolutely astounding!! If my CO in the SDOEwar will permit, I'm thinking I'll lead the Panzerkampfgruppes online... I used to go by the alias Guderian, perhaps it's time to switch back? One thing that still bothers me about it though is how if you idle the engine near 0% it will cut out and you have to turn off, then on again to continue. Any idea why? Archy - I'm having some AI probs with the tiger. I tried a mission in North Africa with Tanks starting on the ground, and unless I give them zero initial velocity, they blow up. By this I mean I start them at five miles per hour, and the instant the game starts there is this massive cataclysm and every last one of my moving tanks are destroyed. Werner, the tank is still an aircraft in the SDOE world, therefore we cannot start them in a mission and moving, else the engine will have them in the air, and they will fall and crash.IP: Logged |

Archy, i've got the TigerII running. Its an excellent addition to SDOE. And the Commander's view is awesome! But the main gun is slightly unreliable, sometimes the shell detonates, sometimes it does'nt.IP: Logged |

Yeah, the dummy rounds: I think thats part of the game engine itself, maybe someone else knows for sure and can explain it better. Probably the best thing to do is just double the firing rate of the cannon(I thought I had done that, but maybe not). We can probably just change the rate of fire in the loadout.ppf file to test it out.IP: Logged |

I gotta say Archy--I took it out for a spin and had a lot of fun for about an hour just blowing up buildings It is a real blast (pardon the pun!) I would like to start some missions with it...but how is the AI in it? And how would I set them up? Sweep or CAP? Hmm... weird, eh? I can see a couple peeking aroud a farmhouse and then BANG! Almost makes me wanna go out and buy Panzer Commander or something  ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

To get the TigerII to show up in the training area you must first open up the loadout file in the TigerII directory and add the line: descCountry 'strGermany Next make a file folder called TigerII. Place the mission that came with it into that folder and put it into the Training directory. Fire up SDOE and you should now be able to choose the TigerII under Germany!!Awesome little tank!! If you double the rate of fire on the cannon, please remember to double the amount of ammunition also. This tank is great fun, we should be using it online!!!The tank commander is a cool addition- can he be made killable? Also my commander is turning up untextured. I'm happy to say that I've had no crashes or anything bad happen while playing with the newest TigerII. It'd be cool if we could have AP and HE shells. Hmm... ------------------ -=TheReaper=-

Jeeves- Go buy PzComm, it's a good game, loads of fun, and even though the graphics aren't so hot anymore it's pretty cheap anymore. Also the physics model of the tank is brilliant! I love just watching the tank from the side over hard terrain sometimes. North Africa is modelled really well also. Archy- Sorry, is here any way to get the AI to work it now? How would I go about doing that in the mission editor? thx. Also, any plans to skin it in the near future? Are there any volunteers if you don't want to? Werner  ------------------ It's coming... Archy, the tank is great, loved testing her out. I subbed it into a few ground pounder missions I had made and it works fine. No major problems yet. I even took out an Apache with a very lucky shot. IP: Logged |
