Perhaps its just me, but since the contest ended I've felt like there is little if any news about what's being worked on around here (obviously this excludes guys like Nat, but in general I mean). Now there are two explanations to this, either a lot of people are on SDOE sabbatical right now, or they're so consumed by their projects they don't have the time to fill us in. So if you wouldn't mind, please take a second and leave a post indicating what you're working on, and if possible, progress/ETA. Many thanks!

For the record, I am working on the new BCATP website, and I may have some exciting news on that front in the near future.

I'm also helping Esox and PR & the SDOE War crew.

I'm working with Sv on the Albatros Dva and Se5a (a little) FM's. I also am working on airfoils for the WWI projects with some good results this weekend. I think there is some light at the end of the tunnel for reliable airfoil data.

I have a fun project on the board, kinda on hold right now...the Volksplane. What can I say? I saw it in Popular Science when I was a kid, and always dreamed of flying one. It's just about completed as a model, but not in the game yet.

Personaly, I'm still having alot of problems altering terrain tile material values, so for the time being I've put PAC on a backburner before I throw the puter out the window!

So, as you've seen, I just finished that sub (only took 2 hours anyway), and I'm moving in with the PBY team and doind alot on that right now, as usual though I'm sure there will be other little side projects along the way, and I will be back trying to sort out my terrain problems aswell, it's not dead, just taking a nap

Spanky here...

Well the P40 is on hold right now.

I'm learning more modeling right now, trying to wrap my head around lofting and fit deformation.

The new project I have picked to learn it and have some fun is this.

Its the Me Libelle (dragonfly, you can really see it in the shape)

Heres the data the luft 46 site has on it:

---------------------------
This Miniaturjäger (Miniature Fighter) project carried the "powered egg" design to the extreme. The short, egg-shaped fuselage held the single He S 011 jet engine and exausted beneath a long boom which held the V-tail. The Messerschmitt "Libelle" (Dragonfly) also utilized a retractable, tricycle undercarriage. Details of what armament to be fitted are unknown.

Span: 7 m (22' 11.8")
Length: 7.3 m (23' 11.6")
Max. Speed: Unknown
----------------------

As you can see thats not much to go on. AND after we got our hearts set on it we noticed theres no rudder. LOL

Anyway it will be a high performance bomber intercepter with very little pilot armor and low range. Thats what it looks like to me anyways.

Probly do a small hidden rudder to emulate the rudder action that v tails do.

heres a link to luft46s info and pic links on it.
http://users.visi.net/~djohnson/mess/melibel.html

If anyone has any concrete data on this sucker let me know.

I kinda like the fact that I can guesstimate everything right now besides the shape though LOL.

Don't worry though I'm basing it all in reality, it will be fast and have a good punch but be VERY fragile and short range althought more range then the 163.

G;ad to see somebody working on the dragonfly. I saw it on a Luft '46 page and instantly fell in love. I wanted to try to do it myself, but I couldn't make a 3d model of a brick.

Can't wait to try her out!

No hard feelings Psi

Yeah its pretty damn sweet looking.

I'm thinking 2 30mm cannons with 80 rpg

not much range but plenty of speed and it really looks like it could glide really good.

Current Projects/status:

- Pe2FT ("light" Version full of tradeoffs ) -->Status: Outside is done (except some deatil stuff, and it seems I had to remodell the wings, cause onDetach (obModel (...)) does not work), Inside - half done, no DM, no FM = still 4-6 weeks for the first beta release

- secret fighter project+tutorial -->Status: I'll wait till the vrml/ops thing is out

- new map --> planing phase - research, many tests with mesh construction/optimization etc., could be Leningrad (with a part of the city), should be "user-friendly" = small dl-size, good FPS rates etc.

- When all this is done (or in a good beta phase) I probably will take a look at the Il-10 or Il-10 sturmovik - We'll see

Done a few model alterations and now I feel ready for a big challenge.
Laika said the best way to learn was to do it, so here goes

The Dornier Do335

I love it, and the variations all look fun

Progress so far:

Basic model done ( big bits look good)
It flies, but I have had real problems balancing it. Right wing drops like a brick at low speed.
When I have it cracked, I plan a full range of versions.

Fighter: 2 15mm cannon + cenral 30mm
Zerstorer: 5! 30mm cannon
Nightfighter: as per fighter, but with second seat above and behind

If I can crack the black art of open plane, this thing should be loads of fun.

Anyone got any info on how this baby went?

Have cutaways and specs

Oh yes, and I nearly forgot...

Ostwind, Wirbel wind to replace the tacky flakpanzer the game shipped with,

AND THE BISMARK.

Modelling almost done, just the guns to do now. This is the fun part!!!

When thats all done, I plan a little bit of terrain....

SICILY

complete with a smoking mount Etna.....

All I need to do now is learn how to get by without sleep.....

Of course the big project from SDOE WWI folks is the first Plane Pack for WWI! Aircraft for the pack have been in testing the past two weeks. A WWI PP beta should be out shortly!

Nieuport 17c1-
I've been working on the FM and DM for my Nieuport 17. Right now I'm wading though creating the Eiffel 52 & 53 airfoils.

Nieuport 11-
Once the N17 FM/DM is pretty tight I'll be releasing the Nieuport 11 'bebe'. This model will capture the structure and FM changes of the N11 based on my N17 model.

...and here is my other project already under way!

Just as my sig shows...
...however the Tempest was ALMOST lost in a Windows filesystem crash (note I don't say a HD crash, because I'm pretty sure Fenetres98 is at fault here) hopefully I had a copy somewhere. This has slowed me down a little but I have fixed the dissapearing polygons on the fuselage and reworked the canopy area (not perfect yet however).

The FM is also a work in progress with the help of lfbpro as test pilot and Fred Mailhos as historical expert. Right now it flies well, it eats D9's for breakfast. Offline that is. 109Ks are a little trickier (I really love that plane).

I also started working on a skin. Unless some skin expert takes care of this hint hint

I will post a pic when back from work.

Im working on the Fw Triebfugel, PfalzDIII, Hannover, and a nice looking German WWI Bomber. The Triebfugel, I think, is dead. Its FM is damn near impossible. If any body wants the 3d model or sm file, let me know. The PfalzDIII, Its looking great, its got a skin, you can fly it, and needs a cockpit, here is a pic...oh, dont mind the color probs, they've been fixed
The Hannover, well, with my new knoledge I can go farther than the fuse, he he he. And the German WWI Bomber, its looking ass kickin, despite the skrewed up FM.

I´m working on a SAAB J21 fighter/attack a/c.
All parts except cockpit, canopy and prop are done. They are also textured. But right now it only has one LOD.
I have just begun importing and assembling the .objs for the second time since I screwed up a DOF the last time and couldn´t get it to work properly any other way.
To do:

*Assemble the models

*Do a cockpit w. canopy (the J21 had an ejection seat, don´t know if I am able to do that)

*Do the LODS

*FM

When the J21 is done I will perhaps also do what the original engineers did, a jet version of the same plane, the J21R with a Goblin engine.
If you like to see pictures of the real plane use this link:

Ju 188 - waiting for FM and DM work, I am waiting for my Ju 188-book to arrive to have the data I need

Ju 88C-6/Ju 88P - waiting for some final touches, first of all I want to get the big gunpod dropable (still experimenting, not really satisfied yet)

Ju 88G-1 - actually waiting for the Ju 188 to be finished; I'll merge back some changes from the 188 to the 88G-1

Terrain - experimenting a lot with it; most of all getting real data into SDOE-terrain (GTOPO30 DEMs); I haven't really gotten anywhere yet. I know how to deal with DEMs, butI really suck at 3D-programming (calculating polygon and vertex normals, UV-mapping coords, etc.) What I have in mind is creating a more realistic Rhineland-terrain (I live there, and I tell you SDOE's Rhineland is nowhere near the real thing), but I'm too lazy to do it the hard way (like Nat does it).

BTW, Nat, what's the problem with changing the terrain-materials? Did the program I wrote suck? Let's see what I can do about it.
