I've have to admit it.. mposis releasing his destroyer promted me into making this... lolThis sub should carry aircraft - The aircraft were the Aichi M6A1 Seiran, also carried by the Type AM submarines. Each of these monoplanes could carry one aerial torpedo or a bomb weighing up to 800kg. Powered by the 1,400hp Atsuta 32 engine (similar to Germany's DB601) they had a top speed of 295mph and were credited with a range of 642 nautical miles. The Sen Toku submarines carried four aerial torpedoes, three 800kg bombs, and twelve 250kg bombs to arm these aircraft. These aircraft had their assembly points coated with fluorescent paint to ease assembly in the dark, so four trained men could prepare an aircraft for launch in seven minutes. All three aircraft could be prepared, armed, and launched in 45 minutes. I've left 3 28mm AA off this one, fear of over kill.. here's the pic, and you'll find it in my Ground Units as always

Thanks, btw, something thats happend by accident (although I think I know why) All remaining guns carry firing even if one gets destroyed, but I guess that wont matter too much as you're likely to sink the sub before you take out all the guns.IP: Logged |

Hey Psi, well from the little info I had, they used a catapult system to fire it along the ramp, the aircraft were float planes so recovery wasn't a problem. Here's some extra info on the Subs and a couple of picsWhile Japan built many submarines that were larger than those of other Navies, the three Sen Toku boats were far larger than anything ever seen before. Some 60% larger than the largest contemporary American submarine, USS Argonaut, they had more than twice her range. The most unusual feature was that they each carried three floatplane bombers (and parts for a fourth), a feat never achieved by any other class of submarine. These aircraft folded to fit into the 115-foot cylindrical hangar, which was slightly offset to starboard and opened forward to access the catapult. The huge double hull was formed of parallel cylindrical hulls so that it had a peculiar lazy-eight cross section, and may have inspired the Soviet Typhoon-class built some 40 years later. Although aircraft must be considered their primary armament, they also carried a formidable torpedo battery and the usual 14cm deck gun. Anti-aircraft armament included ten 25mm cannons in three triple mounts and one single. Each of these boats had radar and a snorkel. IP: Logged |

Nat, I like your Yamato best. Fun just to circle it and see the tracer coming from its 25mm. And flak from destroyers decorate the sky like WWII in the pacific. But I cant run the Teruzuki destroyer though, the game crashes when I launch the mission with it. ------------------------------------- i flew a invulnerable mossie! I think that it is because of the obProto CAirfoil on all the ship parts, but I must admit I've hardly used SDOE for anything other than testing in quiet a few days, so I've not tried the ship out myself[This message has been edited by Nat (edited 05-30-2000).] [This message has been edited by Nat (edited 05-30-2000).] IP: Logged |

Nat,Sorry I didn't get back to your reply sooner. It got shuffled out of my sight I guess. I find the information on the sub interesting. Having been on a George Washington (I think) class nuke sub, SSBN Nathan Hale, and seeing the massive bulkheads and the thickness on the outer hull BTW x2 on the hulls. I have to think that because of the mass and volume of the hanger the max depth could not have been great. The modest size of both modern and antiquated subs was and is primarily to strenghten the hull and to limit the amount of steel needed to endure the pressures at "depth" Now let me ask you, (if, when) you get this built there will 3 A/C in this vessel, what will this due to FPS and if its destroyed will the explosion be like a nuke? Just curious... Psi IP: Logged |

Psi, not if/when, it's done already.. LOL, it's posted on my site since last week I haven't added any aircraft cause when I've done that in the past it's caused me CTD's, but I would love to put them around it, that would look wicked.. so if anyone had a K161 with it's guts ripped out.. send it to me! I could put on on the ramp ready for launching, and one in the water ready for taking aboard.. that would be cool Plus I could add them to the Yamato, and the upcomming Heavey Cruiser Mogami IP: Logged |

You know, I got to see the only surviving aircraft of that type. Its at the Garber Facility in Washington D.C. Word was that the aircraft folded into a box and had hot oil continuously pumped into the engine so it could be flown in about 45 min. They were going to attack the Panama Canal (if memory serves) and when japan surrendered, all ships were scuttled, and aircraft were pushed over the side. Cool, HUH?IP: Logged |

Thats right Seb, I know the story, I can't remember the name of the US ship they appeared next to on surfacing, but I do believe they had to have a change of pants.. lolWhat a waste of probably the most powerful sub of the war though huh I don't doubt that one of those could have done some real damage to the canal

Razer, thats the first impression I got aswell, hey bro have you got a 61 with the guts ripped out? Just parts no properties? Id love to drop those floats on it and have it stationed on deck, and one in the water According to the write up, thats a Aichi M6A1 Seiran which I've never seen, I'll take a look on the net to see whats there. Here you go! http://www.skypoint.com/members/jbp/ijna/m6a.htm
