B17 II and "The Wait"If I here "Yea, it is way behind schedule, but at least this shows that they want to get it right" one more time I am going to bwow! Is that what people tell their boss? "Yea sir, uhh, hehe, uhhh yea! I just want to make sure I get it right sir, that is why I have not finished it... you wouldn't want me to do it wrong, would you?" Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to B17 II as much as the next guy, and I do understand how hard it is to predict project timelines, but I do not expect so much sympathy! Maybe a "well, just get it done and I will be happy" or something, but a pat on the back for falling behind? Really! If that reasoning works then you should know that I have a brand new flight sim in development. Yep, 'been in the works for fifteen years now - yea, I know - I am ten years behind schedule. I did promise it in 1990, but I want to get it right so expect it in like 2010- It will be the best sim ever 'cause I am spending SO much time getting it right. I am a saint ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Almost as bad as waiting for the damage-patch. Except I gave up on that a couple of months ago, already my life. ------------------

Sv, If you delay it a bit more then maybe Romero will help promote it and you can get killcreek to pose nude in crack whore magazine to help push it. IP: Logged |

Come on guys. Do you (not all of you, but you know who you are) really need to disparage people for staying with what they hope will be a good game? Hell, I'm hoping B-17II is a success on at least two levels. 1) I'm a developer and hate to see other developers go through the hell that is making a hard-core sim. The bean counters don't understand what that really means. The retailers don't understand understand what that really means and very few users understand what that really means. 2) I'm also a user and I'd really like to have a good B-17 sim (it's a kick-ass bird).I'm fairly sure that the B-17II team is catching all sorts of shit from MP management for being over schedule and over budget. The fact is that a game like that can't be accurately planned out in advance since they're trying to do so many new things. IP: Logged |

This was not inteneded as a bitch about B17 II at all, just an interesting insight on the future B17 II customers I am very patient, and I applaud all who are, but I don't think that there must be a direct coralation between length of development and quality of product. It is upseting to see briliant work at times go unrewarded because a big fuss was not made about the scope of the effort. I have seen (non-game) projects that suck get released and then praised because of the years of effort and over-time that went into the project - a (should-have, could-have been) two month project! I am quite sure that this is not the case with B17 II, but I just don't like that attitude. [i]It's OK to get stuff done fast sometimes, it does not mean you are just lazy or cutting corners![/b] -Sv IP: Logged |

Sv, no corelation with development time and quality? Has anyone released a plane that hasn't been through further stages to improve on it? I think time should equal quality, though I agree it isn't always the case but more time has to be better than less. ------------------ IP: Logged |

A nail gun may finish the floor faster, and with better quality......more of a bad thing might be worse than less of a good thing I built my Fokker DVIII about a hundred times faster than my SE5a, and it is a better model... grading effort can be dangerous. -Sv IP: Logged |
