Are these being worked on? Are they complete? has anyone even thought of doing them?

The wings wasn't built to fold. The way the wings fold will make Razor redo the wings from scatch to have them fold. I have no idea when it will be done, if ever.

Well, the F4u has the wing retracts, and the F4F is a carrier based plane as well. So why not be realistic about it?

Falck, the same might be said about cockpit reflections, sliding canopies, hi-res cockpits, etc. Do you ask "what's the point" about them? IMO the folding wings on the Corsair are one of the greatest new features anyone has come up with. If you really need to know, the point is "realism".

I think that Falck's point is that there are higher priorities in the F4F development. Of course having folding wings would be great, but it is probably more important to most people to focus on other issues first. Of course, I'm sure you could ask Falck if he wouldn't mind if you make the folding wing addition to his aircraft. :-)

I remember someone starting to do this (Sebulba?) and having trouble when the wings folded I think the lifted the plane off the ground...maybe using that person's work, it could be fixed pretty easily?

well, since the wings didn't fold automaticaly like the F4U, does this mean we should have deck crew run out of the pits to come fold them aswell.. lol

I agree with Nat

But also, folding wings are only important in a strategical sense, allowing more aircraft on a carrier. Since we never deal with situations in which that becomes necessary, and due to the fact that we can specify whether wings start folded or not yet, that theyre kinda superfluous.

BTW, by no means consider this to be my aircraft. I just built it for fun. As long as its alright with razor747 youre allowed to tweak it to your hearts content.

Cockpit reflections at to realism. But lets face it, theres a lot of realism thats not in SDOE yet as far as mixture control, rpm, and pitch control are concerned. Bottom line is it just doesnt affect gameplay at all.

Yep Jeeves, that was me. The wings folded back beautifully, but when returned back to flying position, the DOF timing got all fudged up. I lost the file unfortunatly.

Nat, Falck,

I didn't know that the F4F wings only folded by hand. To have them fold mechanically would not be realistic so I change my vote to No (unless we can get Dirk to do it.)

IMO gameplay = immersion, and if it "looks" real it adds to immersion and therefore to gameplay. Call it eye candy if you want but I love the cockpit reflections, oil stains, etc. Yeah, there's a lot we can't emulate in SDOE but I vote for maxing out what we can.
