Well, this will sound kinda funny, but I'm typing right now from the floor of our walk-in closet since we didn't realize with our huge sectional couch that there really wouldn't be any room for a computer desk in the living room. My setup may end up back in our sons room but I really didn't want to do that to him again. Oh well, I have a PC for him and my wife to use too (so maybe two systems in his room) that I'll set-up when the big moving truck gets here with the rest of our stuff.The U-haul had a jamming stereo (although no tape/CD player) so I did some serious singing/yelling/screaming on the way here. People (if they heard me) must have thought I was nuts, but I was just singing my heart out to all sorts of different music. My wife and son were in our car so I had to do something to keep myself entertained for 10 hours. Anyhow, just wanted to let you all know we are now Southern Cal residents and made it here safely. Well, I'll be on a T-1 at work, but I'm still trying to figure out what the home will accept. Gotta call the phone company Monday regarding DSL. I hope we'll be able to get hooked up with it. I know Road Runner Cable will be available later in the year also, so either way we'll get something.I just DL'd the patch but I really need to get a new computer desk before I do any computing for long periods. My mom was within six months of getting cable modem at her place for about a year and a half. They're still six months out. She finally got DSL.IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Yeah same here Mighty, Once we got DSL in town I jumped on it. My Reg ISP is supposed to be getting it but I just went with bell. Even If I switch back, I need faster speed NOW. Plus activation was free AND the first month. So I can just return the modem after a month and its all free. And I get to keep the network card they supplied. IP: Logged |

Glad the move went well.
I think you should convince your wife that the walk-in closet is actually a computer room. That it needs its own A/C, refrigerator, cable TV, and a special chair (with speakers built into it). Then you can tell her that she should move her clothes into your son's room to keep him from being disturbed by the computers. Do you think that one will fly? ------------------

Welcome home.
We even managed to arrange some cool weather for you this past weekend  . I agree with Goth (birds of a feather you know...) Thats easy for me to say as I sit here in my home office. Now if they would just get cable modems OR DSL.... Until then 44-48k is about the best I can do....------------------
