Thanks to jedi. He did some great work. Here is a list of what he has done so far.

Added exhaust stacks
Added opening canopy
Put spinner on prop
Reshaped prop and spinner
Changed spinning prop texture
Added 3D intakes for engine and radiator
Made tail surfaces 3-dimensional
Added moving joystick to cockpit
Animated US pilot figure replaces Luftwaffe pilot (still has oxygen mask though); opens canopy and head tracks targets

He also edited the loadout.ppf so that you can select just the two inside guns or the four outside guns or all guns.

I forwarded a copy to Zoycite. We hope to add

Optional reflective canopy
Improve instrument panel (add a gauge or two)
Landing gear indicator.
Hopefully a suprise or two.

Damage model

Visual damage to wings, fuselage and tail
Gear damage if lowered at high speed

Engine damage
- Sputter and reduced power
- Smoke from exhaust pipes
- Oil on the windshield

What suggestions do you have?

These improvements sound great. Looking forward to the update.

I can't wait for the visual damage effects. Doing this for the bombers would be cool too.

The guns were actually like that already in the 5.3 Stang (and even earlier IIRC). I modified the .ppf to enable the pilot's head target-tracking.

I think the FM needs looking at as well. It feels properly "squirrelly" inflight, although I havent' checked its raw performance numbers for accuracy. But on the ground, it's just too skittery IMO. The P-47, for example, is a BUS on the ground, very stable, and even the 190, which should be pretty Mustang-ish, is pretty well behaved on the ground. The Stang will ground-loop in a heartbeat on takeoff or landing (and unfortunately the Corsair has inherited this tendency).

On the bright side, this unstability translates into what feels like pretty realistic spin/stall behavior inflight on the Stang (which I managed to somehow lose on the Corsair). Getting the balance right between inflight and ground stability might be a job for the mighty Zur!
