Picky I know, but there seem to be a couple of things that seem a bit odd still in SDOE. By way of explanation I should say that most of the time I play Warbirds, but don't fly the real thing.1. The planes seem light when handling. 2. The ground handling still seems strange (although Warbirds seems easier than Aces High) 3. The bombs are far too powerful and devastate huge areas. In fact it is almost impossible to do a low level run in the Mosquito without blowing yourself up! Does anyone else find this? I wish I had the technical knowledge to help fix it.

Spanky here.. Hi man. I agree with ya pretty much. Nothing wrong with being a little picky, At least I don't think so
1 & 2, The FMs are still being worked on and from what the guys tell me after they moved the fuel tanks into proper posistions that really helped ground handling. Its an ongoing process. 3, FREAKING RIGHT, I'm totally with you on that one man. Not that I've ever actually seen a 500 pounder go off. Can't we reduce the area effect of some of the bombs guys?(its in OP somewhere) I know this would make bombing a little harder, But really doesn't it seem like that would be a little more realistic? Why tweak all the FMs to be super accurate just to have the bombs artificialy help the bombers acheive there goals? I could be wrong. They only SEEM to have too much effect at long distances. Maybe kopper has some info on this stuff. IP: Logged |

You can alter the loadout.ppf values for each plane, and reduce the explosive weight for each bomb. About 20% to 30% of the current value for the explosive (which seems to be set to half the bomb weight) seems to make things more reasonable. Maybe the explosive really is only about 15% of the weight of the bomb. How dense is TNT compared to steel?IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Yeah, changing the loadouts messes it up for online though and thats mostly what I play. IP: Logged |

Well change the loadout to a value that works and make it the standard. ------------------ IP: Logged |

SPanky here... Yeah and then stand back for the backlash of the bombers when they can't hit anything anymore LOL.
I wouldn't know how big the area should be. Kopper man, are you out there?

Gotta agree on the bomb thing. 2x1000-pounders should not demolish a whole field. We really should change the damage capability of the bombs at least and get those new weapons into a plane pack. That said, it was of course possible to blow yourself up with your own bombs if you pulled out too low or delivered too low. A low-level bomb run should end with a "pop-up" into a level run-in and drop or dive attack. There were some parachute-retarded or parachute-delivered weapons, but those were not the "normal" weapons used I don't think. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

By killing yourself easily when dropping too low I really meant compared to other sims. But then with a field clearing ability from a fighter bomber it is no wonder you can blow yourself up so easily!IP: Logged |

hi well parachute-bombs were used ..but in pacific theater.. b25 an b26 were using these bombs while flying only 250-400m (ehm..750-1200 feets or even lower when dropping bomb load. so they have to equip the bombs with parachutes if they didn't want to blow themselves up too along with the airfield
